To Damocles

But that is the whole point that I've been trying to make all along. This American safety culture that you refer to doesn't seem to extend beyond your shores where you do whatever the fuck that you like and then try to avoid paying decent compensation especially when brown people are involved.
Ah you can't apply our laws to other countries. To act like anyone wasn't apauled by the decades old incident is as pussyfied as England attacking the faulkin islands.

Do you own a house?
Did you take on all the debts that the previous owner had, when you bought it?
Dow bought the controlling interest, after the settlement had been reached. They are not responsible, unless it was included in the buy out contract.

I not only own a house, it's bought and paid for, anyway moving on from that red herring. I wonder if you would have been happy if BP had been taken over and the new company said that they were were not liable for the compensation?

Where's the "safety culture" in all of these countries of those "brown people".
The companies aren't invading the country, occupying the land, building illeagal structures, and operating without the consent of those countries.

That was funny not responsible for a purchased co and compairing to a house. Wild guess usredneck is not in business.

If it was a used home and someone was injured on the property, do they now have the right to come back and say that they're not satisfied with the settlement they made with the previous owner and that you need to pay?

The whole point of multinationals operating in third world countries, in the past, was to avoid the safety culture and the legal nightmares of the US. Why you find that hard to understand is beyond me.

So you admit that these other countries aren't concerned about their own "brown people" and maybe you should be condemning them, for being so cavelier with their own safety concerns.

Life is cheaper in third world countries, hardly a shocking revelation, which is why multinationals prefer to be there. That doesn't exonerate them though from their responsibilities. Unless of course you are trying to say that high standards only apply to the US.

In another thread; the US was accused of imperialism and now we're supposed to be responsible for what other countries allow.
Are you stating that British companies are doing anything differently, then what the US is doing?
