Outrage subdued after DJ goes on racially charged rant on GOP congressional candidate

In a profanity-laced tirade, a Memphis DJ last week used an on-air interview to berate a local Republican congressional candidate -- calling her a "token negro" who is doing the bidding of "white folk."

DJ Thaddeus Matthews called Charlotte Bergmann, who is black, "stupid." He referred to her as a "curly-haired nigga." When she walked out of the interview, he refused to shake her hand, saying he didn't want to get her "whiteness" on him.

are you defending thaddeus?

No, I'm not defending the guy. I've never heard of him, don't know who the hell he is or why I should even give a shit what he had to say. He's some guy on a Memphis AM blues radio station that probably has eleven listeners. Not exactly the king of radio.

did you bitch about imus?

And this is news, why? More race-baiting OP's from Yogurt.

poet's logic:

1. yurt is on ignore, but i will comment in his thread anyway. but not directly to him, as i'm too afraid to actually debate him.

2. posting a thread about someone and their racial talk, is now - get ready --------race-baiting. so....according to poet, if a black person talks about another's race, and you post about it, you are race-baiting.

I don't remember, but probably. I don't think it's appropriate for someone who hosts a news radio program that is nationally syndicated by CBS and which is simulcasted on cable TV who hosts major politicians every day to call a college girls basketball team "nappy-headed hos" based on their physical appearance, but that's just me.

If you want to get your panties in a twist about some guy you never heard of saying extremely offensive things about a candidate for public office (whom you also never heard of) on a radio show that maybe a dozen people in the greater Memphis area heard, go nuts. I'm not interested.

It's amazing, soon as any white person makes a remark that could be twisted turned inverted or altered to something marginally racist, poet's there. As soon as a black guy goes on a rant about white people and those that try to get along with them, that's just being cultural.

and dung shows his true colors. if the public speaker is well known, then it matters. if the speaker is not well known, then that is ok. it should only matter if the public speaker has X number of listeners. until then, you're only getting your panties in a bunch.

following dung's thinking to its logical conclusion, the KKK, can set up a radio show, and as long as they are below X number of listeners, if you talk about their show, your panties are in a bunch.

good one dung!
