Let me dumb it down for you: if EVERY gun purchase was run through a universal background check system that included mental health records/court decisions, then unhinged folk could be denied the weapons. Problem is, not every person with a mental problem has been diagnosed....if they are not arrested or committed or mandated to a psychologist/psychiatrist, then there would be no official record. Given this reality, my previous post stands valid.
