in truth, it does. people like you that are so quick to convict without knowing all the facts are the reason it is hard to get an impartial jury. if you were a juror, you would believe his guilt from before opening statements to closing statements. you would never consider the facts or anything else.

That's not actually a requirement to receive victim compensation.
However the things it can go to pay for are limited, the family may get money for counseling, etc. But other than that it is highly regulated. This isn't a civil court suit.

The person has to prove that they were a victim and that they were not at fault. A conviction isn't necessary otherwise it shuts out all the victims whose cases weren't closed.

Zimmerman isn't paying them. Whether he's guilty or not doesn't change the death. However they probably won't receive compensation since it can be argued that trayvon was complicit in the altercation that resulted in the shooting. I'm not making a judgement but it's hard as hell to get money for victim compensation without being the "ideal victim"
