Trial to Begin on Drug War Crazed Principal Strip Searches 8th Grader

Nobody can. That's the problem. They are "educators" and think that they have far more power than they should.

Most "educators" (normal classroom teachers) aren't the ones involved in this. The administrators are the ones with this "authority" and it is granted to them by law.

WASHINGTON ? Even though student molestations seem to be reaching epidemic proportions in schools across America, the House of Representatives has approved a tough new anti-drug and anti-weapon law that would require local districts to develop search policies including strip searches with immunity against prosecution for teachers and staff.

They don't have that power in the first place, though. While it is true that certain rights do not apply to students, I don't believe that it is legal anywhere for a teacher to search the person of a student, much less make that student strip.
Educators often have the habit of believing they are the smartest person in the room at all times. Usually when in front of a classroom they are right, but not in the world. This belief translates, often, into other areas of their lives. Principals believe suddenly that they can determine truth, and therefore have every right to do what they deem necessary.

There is a likelihood that this wasn't the first strip search that went down at that school, it was just the first that a parent heard about.

Exactly....

If it were legal, the principal would not be going to trial :P

This Principal had no authority to strip search anyone...'Found suspicion' is the law that LE must abide by...they are trained and authorized...School employees have no such authority...hang the perv thats what I say!

If the policy is word of mouth and the strip searches don't include reasonable certainty as well as a LE official then they are overstepping, plainly and simply.

Oh I absolutely agree. I was just pointing out for gonzo and others that in some places, in some instances, strip searches are legal and even encouraged. I don't agree with this policy but I do know it is law.

A private school is a bit different. You have at least submitted to creating an obedient slave in your child due to irrational hysteria propogated by the state.

I don't give a fuck what you are registered as, that's despicable. How about respecting your child?

It is my freedom of choice as to how my minor child, who is not capable of informed consent, will be monitored and guided during his schooling. No force or fraud is involved here. When you create boundaries of personal behavior for your kids, teaching your kids to respect themselves and their bodies, that is treating them respectfully. Using this as a basis to teach them to respect others is respectful, and a necessary element of a functioning society. Respecting yourself and others is not obedient slavery to the state. There is a huge chasm between simply respecting others and submitting to authority blindly.

So, "Mr. Libertarian," how do we create a libertarian form of government that will not devolve into chaos if there are no self-enforced boundaries to personal behavior? I do not expect my kids to learn moral limits through osmosis. Libertarianism does not work without a moral base.

I disagree that the hysteria is irrational. It is quite rational when viewed in terms of the end goal.

Who said they'll learn it through osmosis? Strip-searching is not a reasonable next step alternative to osmosis.

Yeah, that's what I said in the first paragraph. It's your right to fuck up your child for life.

How in the hell is a random piss test indicative of respecting others or respecting boundaries of others and not training them to blindly submit to authority? Maybe, they will realize what a fuckhead you are and rebel against your authoirty (not like piss tests can't be gotten around), but the result there is not so great either.

You expect them to learn moral limits by command and control. This is not self enforced. You are forcing it on your kid. Force and coercion are absent from moral actions and you are disabling their moral capacity during a very crucial period of its development.

Exactly...............!

While working Child Porn cases...Teachers along with attorneys, judges, and religious clerics...were in the top ten percent of those investigated! Not to forget the entertainment industry...just a fact!
