Disagreed. That said, there's far too many racists in our politics. In part, I credit Obama for opening that divide, but the problem has festered for a long time. Too many assholes willing to look the other way to avoid rocking the boat.
That's why we need leaders who put country first, party second. Instead, we have a bunch of political extremists screaming "My way or the highway!" with the ones on the Right threatening to overthrow the nation.
Aren't blanket stereotypes the basis of all bigotry and prejudice?

Correct. President Obama had a choice; be the first President who was black or be the first Black President. While he was often even handed, in crucial cases he proved he was the latter. Ferguson and Zimmerman were two top instances where this was observed.
Now, if we were able to move 100 years into the future and were talking about it then I'd be the first to say "Barack Obama was a good man but a man of his times. Any faults of his can easily be leveled at Thomas Jefferson and his race relations with Sally."
If Harris becomes President, either next year or maybe in an election, will she be the first President who is female and/or "of color" or will she be the first colored woman President?
The racists expect her to be the latter. Will she surprise and disappoint?
