I like to think that this had no effect, but such a horrible attack on morale has to have some effect. trump is good at giving people the feeling that everything is collapsing, which is a bad way for air traffic controllers to feel.

Again, I hope the air traffic controls powered through the bad news and continued to do a professional job... But do not forget they have been under-budgeted, and under staffed for long time by now.
