Trump claims Houthis 'don't want to fight' and says US will stop bombing campaign

President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced the U.S. will stop its bombing campaign against the Houthis in Yemen after the terrorist group told him they "don't want to fight."

"They just don't want to fight," Trump told reporters from the Oval Office. "They just don't want to, and we will honor that. We will stop the bombings."

Trump said the bombings on Houthi targets will stop "effectively immediately."

Secretary of State Marco Rubio then said the "job" was to get attacks on ships in the region to stop.

"If that's going to stop, we will stop," he added.

State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce reiterated to reporters on Tuesday that Rubio always saw the problem with Houthis in the Red Sea as a freedom of navigation issue.

"These are a band of individuals with advanced weaponry that were threatening global shipping, and the job was to get that to stop," she said.......

I guess shooting at ships in the Red Sea isn't as fun when they shoot back. :dunno:

I have yet to see anyone but the Americans say this......but I do know that there has been massive alarm over the Imperial Empire missile spend, and as well that the THAAD system is now a proven failure.

BREAKING: Houthis (Ansarallah) spokesman Mohammed al-Bukhaiti:“Our military operations in support of Gaza will not cease until the aggression against Gaza stops and the blockade on its residents is lifted, allowing the entry of food, medicine, and fuel.As for our attacks on the US, they fall within the context of the right to self-defense. If it halts its attacks on us, we will halt our attacks on it. This position also applies to Britain. We are committed to our operations in support of Gaza, regardless of the sacrifices it costs us. If the US persists with its operations in support of the Zionist entity, even if they are immoral, the only way to stop the war and avoid escalation is for the US to pressure Netanyahu to respect the terms of the ceasefire agreement. At that point, we will halt all our military operations in the Red Sea and deep within the Zionist entity.”

Someone on my grapevine, I think it was MacGregor, says that the ME is nearing regional war with Egypt and Jordan saying that they have had enough, they will attack the Zionist Bastards over their genocide of GAZA.

This might be Trump not happy about the trend, him through Witkoff seeking peace with the Houthis as a slapdown for the recent announcement of further assault of GAZA, trying to calm things down.

It is pretty clear that it was the Americans who went seeking this deal.

Israel says it has disabled Yemen’s main airport with airstrikes against rebels

The Israeli military bombed the airport in Yemen’s rebel-held capital Tuesday, claiming to have disabled the airfield in an attack that left commercial aircraft burning on the tarmac as its fighter jets struck power plants and other targets.

@MyLordBebo

The rumors are that Mike Walz, with the other neocons in Trump’s administration wanted more war … Iran, Russia, ChinaNow Walz was moved away, to stop the escalation and as a warning to others. And now the US stops bombing the Houthis. Let’s see if this is a signal, that Trump goes back to his “peacemaker, you can always call and make a deal” promise.

Here's some alternative takes:

In some positive news, the Trump administration has announced that it will stop bombing Yemen, finally accepting the longstanding offer from Ansar Allah to cease attacking US ships if the US ends its bombing campaign.

This is being framed as a victory for the US by Trump and his supporters, with Trump claiming the Houthis “capitulated”, but if anything it’s actually a win for Yemen. Yemeni forces have made it clear that they will continue attacking Israel until it halts its genocidal atrocities in Gaza, which was the only reason the US started bombing Yemen in the first place, and those attacks were the only reason Yemen was attacking American ships. After losing two fighter jets and more than twenty MQ-9 Reaper drones to Houthi attacks, the US is now retreating with its tail between its legs without having gained anything.

During Donald Trump’s press gaggle in the Oval Office, he mentioned in passing that the Houthis had called begging the US to stop bombing, and Trump, gracious man that he is, agreed. The Houthis have surrendered… at least that is the spin from the White House. NOT SO FAST. Trump, true to his style, was doing a major gaslighting job.

Here is what really happened:

The cease-fire agreement with the Iran-backed Houthis announced today by President Trump was reached over the past several days with the mediation of Oman and negotiations led by U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, officials said.

A Pentagon official confirms that both the Navy and Air Force have already been ordered to cease any further hostile action against the Houthis.
It was not the Houthis who cried, Uncle Sam… it was the United States. It was easy for the Houthis to promise to stop shooting missiles at US vessels because there will no longer be any US vessels in the Red Sea. This reminds me of the US declaring victory in Vietnam on April 30, while the North Vietnamese army took control of Saigon. Score this as a victory for the Houthis. Since March 15, the US lost seven drones, three F/A-18 Hornets and expended an estimated $3 billion while flying more than 1,000 sorties. While scores of Yemeni citizens were killed by US bombs, and Yemen suffered significant damage to infrastructure, the US failed to break the Houthis’ will to fight. (NOTE — CNN reported today that another F/A-18 Hornet was lost at sea, which is why I list “three” instead of “two” in the preceding sentence.)

Mohammad Ali Al-Houthi, Head of the Revolutionary Committee in Yemen, made the following announcement:

By the will of Allah,
The support for Gaza continues, and the response is coming.
Netanyahu must prepare his resignation, for his crimes are failed terrorism.
The Yemeni people will not be intimidated by American and “Israeli” terrorism, and the crimes they have committed in Yemen are the same genocidal crimes they commit in Gaza. What we refused to continue in Palestine, we will not accept being passed on in Yemen.
And the circles will turn against the aggressor, by the will of Allah.
According to the Middle East Spectator, Israel was not informed of the decision in advance and is not happy:

Trump has thrown Israel under the bus in a way that’s very rare for him, not only this, but he did not consult with Israel.
My friend, the intrepid Pepe Escobar, who departed Iran today as this news broke, sent me the following pithy message:

It’s all over Iranian media. CENTCOM totally humiliated.

Yea, yea...

We should wait until they have one of these and bomb the living fuck out of it with lots of strafing and white phosphorous...

Sana%27a%20miltiary%20parade.jpg

Then see how the Houthi feel today...

And when the International Criminal Court makes some ruling against the US because of it, Trump declares all the judges on that court enemies of the US and subject to arrest, dead or alive... Let's see who has the balls to stand up to that.
