Do you really believe that conservative Christians would instead vote for a Democrat any one of whom lately is for abortion on demand, gay marriage, among a whole plethora of things they are vehemently against? They may hold their nose and vote for Trump or do it out of thinking they have to stop the Democrat(s) from getting into office, but they sure aren't going to not vote for Trump or vote against him simply because he's not as pious as they themselves are.

LBJ for one during a 1967 fund raiser in Los Angeles. It was his last public appearance.

Grover Cleveland during the 1894 Pullman Strike is another, although no tear gas as it hadn't been invented yet...

FDR as a presidential candidate used the Bonus Army and it's clearing out of Washington as a major campaign issue with photo ops.

To name a few...

A "draft dodger" like tRump visiting Arlington is a political "photo-op". No biggie.
A draft dodger like tRump (hypothetically) being photographed wearing full combat gear is a political "stunt" designed to pander to a specific group.

tRump, especially given his plethora of "sexual escapades" and MULTIPLE infidelities, visiting a church (that he never attends) and displaying a bible (that he likely has never read) is nothing but a pure political "stunt" from an individual who displays his lack of class on an almost daily basis.

You raise a very good point. In essence what you are saying is that "so-called" Christians are more than willing to vote for a pathological lying, cheating, conman as long as the candidate in question shares their own POLITICAL agenda? As such, they are abandoning their "Christian" values in favor of their "Political" ones.

Bill Clinton was a "draft dodger." Trump got waived medically after reporting and being screened. Whether his "bone spurs" were real or not, the military accepted that and classified him medically unfit. One should note that approximately one-third of all draftees were rejected for service mostly on the grounds of medical issues or mental incompetence (yes, it is possible to be too stupid to be drafted into the army).
So, Trump may or may not have had bone spurs, but the military bought his medical excuse and classified him unfit for service. Given that a one in three draftees are rejected, that amounts to his legally gaming the system like many others did to avoid being drafted assuming his excuse was made up of which we have no proof.

On the other hand, Clinton signed up for ROTC at the Univ of Arkansas to get a draft waiver and the second he got it dropped the program after signing paperwork that he would stay in it. That was a draft dodge. Clinton lied to get his waiver.

Bush II used his family connections to get into the Texas Air National Guard. Not the first time that happened... So? He served. Like it or don't. When his service time was up he resigned his commission (officers resign, enlisted are discharged there is a difference).

tRump's deferment was bogus. Even the deceased Doctor's children summited as much. In fact, tRump even boasted of his tennis playing prowess at the same time that he claimed to have had bone spurs. As a former tennis player, any type of foot issue (I developed plantar fasciitis) would be crippling on the court. Even on the softer clay courts.
That said, I cannot argue the Clinton situation nor the Bush situation. What I can say as a former "beltway" participant, that what tRump did was not a photo-op as much as it was a cheap publicity stunt.

The bottom line is that tRump has been pathologically lying since the mid 70's. Most of his "trumpanzees" only know of tRump since his "Apprentice" days. Usually, a pathological liar is a bit more careful about what he/ she lies about. Not so with tRump. If caught "red handed", tRump just tweets "fake news" and that is all that his adoring "base" requires.

The avatar quote is obviously directed at tRump. The MSM that simply report tRumps lies are not the ones "skirting" the questions.

That said, tRump the "scumbag" person is of little consequence to me. tRump the "fleecing of America" scumbag POTUS is a major concern.
