Excerpts are coming out from Mary Trump’s tell-all book — and some of the revelations are lurid.

Mary Trump, who’s a clinical psychologist, believes her uncle displays all nine clinical criteria for narcissism, but wrote that he likely suffers from a variety of additional mental or psychological disorders that explain his behavior. “Donald has been institutionalized for most of his adult life,” she wrote, “so there is no way to know how he would thrive, or even survive, on his own in the real world.

As a boy, Donald Trump learned to lie to boost his standing in the eyes of his domineering father, Fred Trump, who disdained weakness and owning up to mistakes. “By limiting Donald’s access to his own feelings and rendering many of them unacceptable,” Mary Trump wrote, “Fred perverted his son’s perception of the world and damaged his ability to live in it.”

• Donald Trump paid a proxy as a high schooler to take the SAT on his behalf, and that high score helped the future president get into the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton business school — which has boasted was “super genius stuff.

• Fred Trump rejected his namesake son, Mary’s father, and the family sent Fred Trump Jr. to the hospital to die alone from an alcohol-related heart attack in 1981, when he was 43. Donald Trump instead went to the movies, she wrote.

• Mary Trump describes her grandfather as a “high-functioning sociopath,” and says the future president was warped by the abuse heaped on Fred Trump Jr. by their father and their mother’s serious illness when he was a toddler. “Having been abandoned by his mother for at least a year, and having his father fail not only to meet his needs but to make him feel safe or loved, valued or mirrored, Donald suffered deprivations that would scar him for life.”

It pretty obvious to anybody with average intelligence that Trump suffers from psychological problems.

Who da thought, but this man is bat shit crazy

That he is. Despite the concern in the author's quoted words, I have absolutely zero empathy or compassion for this diseased monster, and just about as little for those who continue to support him. He should be institutionalized, imprisoned, or put to sleep.

If she really thinks Donald was institutionalized for most of his adult life, then she's either a bald-faced liar or one truly stupid, utterly stupid person. I don't know much in detail about Trump, but I know he wasn't placed in an institution for most of his adult life. Words have meaning, and to be institutionalized means to have been placed in a mental health facility or health care facility like a retirement home under supervision of medical professionals.

That, is not Trump from 18 to his present age for more than 50% of the time. It's not that I like Trump. I think he's pretty nasty on a personal level. But, I also want to be fair in my critics of him. Institutionalized for most of his adult life is clearly wrong. We'd hear endlessly about his being in an institution of one sort or another for decades on end if it were.

It sounds from the little bit given in the OP, that Ms. Trump simply hates her uncle for whatever reason(s) and has written a book to make some cheap publicity and profit off his fame. It certainly isn't doing her any credit for being smart in an intellectual sense.

She wasn't speaking literally. Of course Trump hasn't been in an institution for most of his life. He has lived in an artificial environment of privilege and power, where his actions, however inept or outrageous, had no real consequences for him, because all his life he had his father's wealth to fall back on. If you knew anything about his career, you would know that is exactly what he did, again and again. His story of being given a "small loan" of $1 million, which he had to repay, is a lie.

That brings us to:

I don't know whether she hates him, but she certainly had reason to. Old Fred died of dementia after Donald "helped" to write his will. And guess what? The children of his deceased elder brother, Mary and Fred III, were left largely in the cold. Donald needed all the money he could get to cover his latest bankruptcy. (I don't know the details, we may learn more from the book.)

When Donald's orphaned niece and nephew challenged the terms of the will, the medical expenses for Fred III's young son, who was seriously disabled with cerebral palsy, were cut off in retaliation. How do you like that?

I'm sure it will be some form of "fake news."

#TRE45ON is a despicable, vile human being.

So, by your measure she's a liar. Words have meaning. If she wanted to say Trump lived a sheltered and privileged life then she should have. When she uses the word "institutionalized" that has specific meaning.

She has been involved to a degree in the probate fight over Fred Trump's will and has publicly expressed anger and even hatred for several of the siblings fighting over it. So, it would hardly be a stretch to assume she hates Donald, especially when you add in she is a Democrat and Progressive.
