Trump ‘has been institutionalized for most of his adult life

Then she should have said that.

She would have been wrong, but that would have been better than lying as she did.

I think only an idiot wouldn't understand what she meant. Unlike Trump, normal people don't make bizarre claims that can be easily debunked. Or maybe you just want to be argumentative because she's attacking your beloved Trump. I neither know nor care.

Words have meaning. If she wanted to say Trump lived a sheltered and privileged life then she should have. When she uses the word "institutionalized" that has specific meaning.

“My father was born in a very wonderful place in Germany.”

The word “Germany” has a specific meaning. His father was born in a very wonderful place called the Bronx, which is not in Germany. Why did he lie?

Words have meanings....speakers who make up their own meanings as they pretend otherwise are liars....they must be ignored for the good of civilization.

This is not rocket science.

What does that have to do in any way, shape, or form with the question of what Mary Trump wrote in a book? Or, is this just an extremely obtuse red herring?

Well, Mary Trump's book is about the Donald's personality disorder(s) and how he acquired them. A notable feature of those disorders is that he is a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR.

Now that's clarified, could you have a shot at answering the question? Why did he say repeatedly that his father was born in Germany?

P.S. You may confer with Hawkeye. :)
