Trump on the SAVE America Act: "It will assure the security of our crooked elections."

Our elections are checked after every election. The system works very well and there are staggeringly few illegal voters. They're found and prosecuted. The only question about our elections arose because of Trump's lies. His election lies are a gut stab at the nation. Trump was told clearly by people in his admin that he lost a clean and fair election. When Daffy Doland got back in office, heTrump fired them and replaced them with total suck-ups who will take Trump's lies as far as they can go. Questioning the fairness of elections goes far beyond Trump's egomania. It makes people distrust the government and the system. Trump does horrible things to the country. He does not care.

This is the thinking that caused the disaster at Fukushima. The system works! No need to improve things. There's no problem that we can see here. Go on about your business, everything is great!

It is so crazy.

Because Trump hates losing & can't accept it, he has led millions to believe that our elections are untrustworthy. We're really at a point now where if Republicans do not win elections, many voters will feel it was "rigged."

It's hard to see how the nation will survive that.

I have doubts about our election process because of things the Democrats put in place that give me reason to doubt them, like:

Ballot harvesting
All mail-in balloting
Election 'seasons' that last weeks, even a month or more
Same day voter registration
Motor voter laws and automatic voter registration
No ID voting
Rules that make purging voter rolls difficult to impossible

If Trump had never shouted "rigged" after the 2020 election, no one would have questioned anything.

And what a weird list. "Motor voter laws?" You don't like it when it's easy to register?

I'd still question everything I listed. That list has NOTHING to do with Trump or anything he spewed about any election. It has everything to do with my being able to see every one of those items being highly susceptible to fraud. Worse, fraud that would be hard or impossible to detect.

We shouldn't have laws centered around right-wing paranoia. No widespread fraud has ever been proven, despite incredible scrutiny, monitoring & investigation.

Things like motor voter & mail-in aren't "highly susceptible to fraud." If they were, guess what - PE0PLE WOULD HAVE UNCOVERED ACTUAL FRAUD.

No one would have batted an eyelash if Trump hadn't started saying it was stolen & stomping his feet. What you listed has everything to do w/ Trump's reaction.

What other laws do you think are "paranoid?" People rarely make explosives in their garage, but we have laws against doing that. By your logic, those are unnecessary.

Yes, they potentially are. For example, if everyone getting a driver's license is automatically registered to vote and the person getting a license has to ask not to be registered, then in states that issue licenses to illegals, felons, and other ineligible persons, they'd be registered to vote unless they specifically asked not to be registered.

Or, ballot harvesting. A harvester goes door to door collecting ballots. They collect blank ones so long as the person signs for it and then later fills it out. Or, they collect in an area that is likely to vote against their preferred candidates and then tosses those ballots out. How would either be detected?

Lack of evidence of fraud is not evidence of lack of fraud. The best, smartest, criminals are the ones that never get caught.

My responses have NOTHING to do with Trump. You are using an excuse and canard with that in my case.

Yes. LBJ famously found voter boxes that narrowly provided a win when his was running in Texas. Election need to be PRECIEVED as fair. They currently are not. They general public needs to precieve that elections are being fairly conducted.

So, a local race over half a century ago. Was that proven? Do you have a link for that? Would any current law being proposed have prevented it?

The reason our elections aren't "perceived" as fair is because Trump and many in MAGA have screamed "fraud" and "rigged" for years now, with no evidence.
 
More Americans believe elections are fair than don’t. It’s mostly MAGAts who don’t trust elections, because it’s a cult and they follow their faulted leader.
