NY is responsible for the House flipping. trump's illegal meddling in the census worked at keeping a lot of people from registering. For the lack of 75 responses, NY lost one House seat.

An outside partisan special master carved up NY to favor Republicans after the commission (in a now Democrat legislature, but historically Republican with old Republican drawn districts) could not agree on new lines.

Couple that with a hotly contested governor's race that brought out a lot of Republicans, and the state gave up 4 seats to Republicans. Some due to infighting over who would run for some of the new districts.

The redistricting fiasco has been remedied to a point, and Dems will more than likely pick up the lost seats. Santos' seat is already lost to a Dem, and that should hold.
