The reality is that Coke does not care about older consumers like yourself. You are set in your ways, and unlikely to drink much cola anyways. It is the young consumers they care about.
I saw an old Andy Rooney episode where he complained about the five worst inventions, and one of them was the pop top can. He asked how anyone could be expected to drink 12 ounces of coke in one sitting. When I was younger, I avoided cans, because I wanted far more than 12 ounces. Kids today regularly buy 44 ounces of Coke to drink. Given a choice between a consumer that can not even drink 12 ounces every now and then, and a consumer that drinks one or two 44 ounces a day... Well I think we can all see why Coke made its choice.
