Fact check: The Panama Canal is entirely sovereign and operated exclusively by Panamanians. Its management and control rest solely in the hands of Panama, with no foreign government permitted to interfere with the nation’s sovereignty.

Fact Check: The Panama Canal is not sovereign. That's the stupidest thing I've read this week. Does Panama have any sovereign shopping centers I don't know about? The Carter-Torrijos treaty is a contract that includes, among many other things, a stipulation for control of the canal to be transferred to Panama. Of course, in the case of breach of contract, control would return to the US.

Trivia: Panama has breeched the Carter-Torrijos treaty thousands of times.
