The president said Wednesday he plans to discuss a $1.7 trillion infrastructure package during next week's annual State of the Union address.

His administration is "working to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure by stimulating a $1 trillion investment, and that will probably end up being about $1.7 trillion."

The impending announcement comes after a document purporting to detail the administration's infrastructure principles leaked earlier this week.

The White House refused to comment on the substance of that document, but said it "looks forward to presenting our plan.”

Trump vowed to repair the nation’s roads, bridges and transit systems during his presidential campaign.

In a budget request last year, the administration proposed a $1 trillion infrastructure investment through both federal funding and private sector investment.

Lawmakers in both parties are eager to work on an infrastructure plan and address pressing issues like the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund, which provides financing to build roads.

Good luck passing it. Obama tried to fix the infrastructure every year and the Repubs voted it down. Trump has cranked up the debt, like republicans always do. However there are fiscal conservatives in congress. The debt concerns them. Trump may get rejected. He should have done this before the tax giveaway.

Trumps package will include private companies. Can you say "toll roads". Tax payers will pay 80 percent of costs. For their 20, corporations will charge us toll roads for ever and ever. Great deal for some one., The people better get used to being bled by the wealthy. We have one for president and 2 other branches working for them.

I also get a daily email showing me what bills were offered and who voted for them. You can do this if you quit watching one slanted thing.

Can you read? The government will pay 80 percent. Do you know that leaves 20 percent? Do you know that is 1/5th of the cost? The rest will be by private companies who will get their money back in toll roads. They will make profits off us. The Trump presidency is carving the people up for the benefit of the wealthy.
