It appears Trump is getting his ass kicked in court. He's also in a Catch-22 bind: he claims to be the top dog of TrumpCo, in full control of everything but if he admits that in court, he's going to be held liable for fraud. Will he admit he doesn't know what the fuck he is doing to save his own ass or will he man up and say "Judge, the buck stops here!"?

Trump fraud trial live updates: Ex-president launches bitter attacks during New York testimony
Donald Trump‘s testimony in the civil fraud trial that threatens to topple his business empire is underway in New York.

The former president has been admonished multiple times by Judge Arthur Engoron for rambling and chaotic answers to questions with attorney Christopher Kise instructed to get him under control.

“I beseech you, to control him. If you can’t, I will,” the judge said.

Later in the morning, Mr Trump lashed out at both Judge Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia James, calling her a “political hack”.

His daughter Ivanka Trump is slated to appear for testimony in court on Wednesday – hours before the third Republican primary debate. His sons Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump testified last week.

Last week, a gag order was expanded in the case to include Mr Trump’s attorneys following repeated comments made about the court clerk....

...

There was no way for Trump to come out of this without a beating.

Agreed. He's talked himself into a corner in more ways than one. His mouth has always been his biggest enemy and this trial is proving that to be true.

It is not a trial. That is over. This is about determining damages.

If it looks like a trial and sounds like a trial, it's a trial. There's a prosecution, a defense and a judge. Are you going to claim the MSM is lying?

Trump testimony in New York fraud case wraps after chaotic day court
Former President Trump clashed frequently with the judge overseeing his New York fraud trial as the former president spent hours on the witness stand in Manhattan on Monday.

Trump’s highly-anticipated testimony grew chaotic, with the judge asking Trump’s attorney to take control of his client. The former president also ticked off his political grievances from the witness stand, to which the judge responded that the court hearing was “not a political rally.”

The trial puts Trump’s long storied career as a real estate mogul and business executive in major jeopardy. At stake are Trump’s business licenses and the potential for him to lose control of some of his most famed properties.

Trump will never say, "the buck stops here". It's a law of nature that any fault is on someone else.

I read an interesting piece the other day, which is really nothing new to those of us who have been discussing this.

In essence, the trump legal team knows that they cannot win (any of these cases) so they are going to try the Chicago 7 ploy.

They are going to be disruptive to the Nth degree in the hopes that the judge will slip up. I think this judge is much smarter than that, and this trial is very different than the C 7 trial.

Still, trump is using this as a fundraising event, as he does with everything else. I was in the shop listening to Public Radio this a.m, and they were discussing the fact that trump was going to testify.

Exactly 5 minutes after he took the stand, the guy on the radio got a fundraising text.

Agreed, but that's a double-edged sword for him. How can he be the-man-in-charge if he always passes the buck? Only a fucking moron would believe Trump has the qualities necessary to be a world leader.

Agreed on all points.

The problem for Trump, as noted above, is that Trump can't have it both ways: He can't plead nothing is his fault and also claim to be what America needs as a leader. Well, he can, but only fucking morons can't see he's a scumbag liar for doing it.

On The Stand, Trump Admits To Adjusting Property Valuations
“Did you ever think that the values were off in your statement of financial condition?” Assistant Attorney General Kevin Wallace asked the former president.

“Yes, on occasion,” Trump responded. “Both high and low.”

Asked in particular about a 2017 statement regarding the value of Trump’s penthouse apartment in Trump Tower in Manhattan, Trump said it “probably” came at his direction.

“Probably, I said I thought it was too high,” Trump said. “I don’t know what’s too high anymore, because I’m seeing things sold at numbers that are very high.”

This is interesting and spot on. Trump's obsession with the value of Mar-a-Lago always struck me as a bit odd, but almost everything he says strikes me as odd.

Anyone have any guesses why? Anyone with legal or business experience think it might be because he's planning to sell and wants a bigger price?

I'm not either one, but if the Florida tax assessor says it's worth $18M and Trump says it's worth $1B, shouldn't Trump be paying a billion dollar's worth of real estate taxes?

Despite all that's at stake, Donald Trump's No. 1 obsession on the witness stand remains an imaginary insult to Mar-a-Lago
  • Donald Trump got animated on the witness stand in answering questions about Mar-a-Lago's valuation.
  • Trump cried "fraud," falsely accusing the judge of valuing the property at $18 million.
  • "I could give you a quarter of a tennis court that's worth more than that," Trump said.
Donald Trump erupted on the witness stand during his testimony under oath in his civil fraud trial on Monday, calling the judge a "fraud" for not agreeing that Mar-a-Lago was worth more than $1 billion.

With the future of his business empire at stake in the trial, it was this weeks-old, imaginary slight — his false belief that the trial judge had "valued" his Palm Beach home and club at $18 million — that prompted Trump's loudest complaint while testifying.

What the judge had actually done — and this was five weeks ago — was mention that a decade-old tax assessment had listed Mar-a-Lago's worth at $18 million. That didn't stop Trump from crying fraud on Monday.

Well, it would be most accurate to describe this charade as the sentencing phase of the trial.

Which makes trump's actions even more amusing.

Save for the fact that he's raking in millions every time he goes to court.

The Revolution will successfully eliminate Trump through the courts....I have been telling you this for almost three years.

Yea. We were supposed to believe that the G.Washington bridge was shut down without Christie's knowledge. The governor who micro managed every aspect of the state, didn't know what his staff was plotting? Sure.

Same for trump. Is he admitting to being so incompetent that he had no idea about the property tax and mortgage issues of any of his properties?

He paid his CFO hundreds of thousands of dollars to pretend (Lie) that nobody in the entire office knows anything about anything.

Doesn't really pass the smell test at all.
