Trump was RIGHT! The system is rigged.

Hello evince,

Attacks on ACORN Based Not on Facts, But on Fear of 1.3 Million Poor People Registering

By Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.

The Republicans tried to make fun of Barack Obama as a community organizer at their national convention in Minnesota, which I guess just goes to show how little Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have to fear from right-wing “humor.”
Now they’ve gone further: Now they’re attacking ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), one of the strongest, hardest-working, most dedicated community organizations in both Chicago and in 40 states across the U.S.
Why are they after ACORN? Well, I’m sure they’re going to come up with a lot of “reasons” in the coming days. But the real reason is obvious: Because ACORN, along with Project Vote, just announced that they had successfully registered 1.3 million poor people this year.
Get that? 1.3 million, including 148,000 in Pennsylvania, 152,000 in Florida, 217,000 in Michigan, and 238,000 in Ohio. No wonder the GOP is up in arms. They’re scared of too many poor people preparing to vote this year.
In the last week, the right wing has tried to blame ACORN for the collapse of the globalized financial system—yeah, that’s a viable argument. They got excited because they found a some possible fake registration forms in Florida, which predictably led to a bunch of whining from the party that stole an entire presidency from Al Gore by blocking vote counts, mischaracterizing voters as felons, refusing to recount entire counties, sending congressional staff down to riot and intimidate volunteer vote-counters, and topped it all off with the most partisan, badly-reasoned, illegitimate Supreme Court decision since Plessy v. Ferguson. A decision so illegitimate that the partisan majority, to their eternal discredit, themselves damned by writing into their own decision that it should never be used as a precedent for any other court ruling.

Hello guno,

SO TRUE!

I was so pissed when Obama took the public option off the table.

The big powerful corporations have too much power. Big insurance dictated their terms to Obama: Either take the Public Option off the table or they would throw their funds against the PPACA. But if he did what they wanted, then they would drop millions into support. Obama caved. And the reason he did is because so many Dems are on the corporate take.

Democrat Sen Max Baucus was instrumental in shooting it down:

RIGGED!

Yep we have two party's: the bourgeoisie party who gives lip service to the working class , but are themselves millions .Then we have a fascist like populist party promising much based on ignorance and fear which their base feeds upon and in the end delivers nothing

These are news stories. Newser has 15 employees. They can't possibly vet everything. They have been punked before.

I do not know that these are facts. I like to verify things. That takes time. Time you apparently don't want to give me.

Bernie Sanders: We Warned Clinton About Russians
He says his supporters were targeted by bot campaign

By Rob Quinn, Newser Staff

(Newser) – Sen. Bernie Sanders says that in some ways, Robert Mueller's report on Russian election meddling isn't news to him—because he knew before the 2016 election that his supporters were being targeted by people seeking to "sow division within the American people." Sanders tells the Des Moines Register that aides noticed a rise in "horrific and ugly things" online in September 2016, after he'd already started campaigning across the country for Hillary Clinton. "In my case, it was to tell Bernie supporters that Hillary Clinton is a criminal, that Hillary Clinton is crazy, that Hillary Clinton is sick—terrible, terrible ugly stuff—and to have Bernie Sanders supporters either vote for Trump or Jill Stein or not vote at all," he says.

maybe that will give people time to read the information

Hello evince,

OK, I get it. I was reading back to try to catch up and I found it.

I asked you a pointed question. You never answered it. It was something you don't want to talk about. So you proceeded to bury me with a barrage of posts and tried to take the conversation elsewhere.

It was a question which would have had you defending the Democratic Party for working hand in hand with the Republican party to lock any other party out. It was a simple question. This is part of how the system is rigged. And it relates straight back to the OP.

"Both parties are complicit in rigging the system."

I am not disputing that Republicans have done what they can to rig elections - they most certainly have. And it is deplorable.

My point is the Dems agreed with the Republicans to prevent third party candidates from being included in the national debates. The debates are run by the bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates. The two parties make the rules. No representatives from other parties are allowed to participate in the debate rule making. The two parties work together to shut out other voices. The debates are not held until after the primaries. Bernie never had a chance to debate Trump.

The two parties require that a candidate have at least 15% polling before they are included in the debates. But if a candidate doesn't have big money backing, they can't get enough exposure to get to that 15%. This effectively locks anybody else out. Being in the national debates could give a third party candidate enough support to go way over 15%, but how can they get there before anybody hears what they have to say?

I don't believe any party should have any control over the presentation of national debates. That's not wide open and free. That's rigged. It's bipartisan, not tripartisan or multipartisan.

Let candidates challenge one another to debates at any time during the campaign and if candidates agree let them pick the time and place. And if they don't include other voices them let the news media rip them a new one for that. And if they don't agree to debate at all, let the media shame them for being afraid of better ideas.

I would like to see people drop OUT of both parties and start thinking for themselves.

And get the big money the heck out of politics and out of government.

We need a system which compares the ideas of the candidates, not how much money they can raise from deep pocketed donors with agenda.

Bernie raised the most small donations. Bernie was the voice of the people. Trump and Hillary were voices of the corporations.

We have to find a way to get the big money out of politics.

Some of the people who are getting voted into power are doing things that hurt those who voted for them.

And they are blaming the hurt on immigrants. Good trick. Too bad it is so effective.

People need to be better educated and more well informed.
