They believed, as many of the arrested have stated, that they were following Trump’s orders.

Pretty simple. Trump doesn't exist, doesn't contest as he did, didn't claim steal, seditious riot doesn't happen. So he is the but for/ logical cause.
He is also the legal cause due to his behavior on that day, having observed the riotous behavior of the crowd pre-intrusion, his words to them and the probable result of those words, and then...
that which was foreseeable and probable actually taking place= legal cause.
