Trump’s Late-Night Meltdown About Stephen Colbert Is Actually a Threat

Good for Gutfeld - who is NOT funny, btw. The point is that Colbert has a successful show that has been on for years. People think he's funny - a lot of people.

Five years ago, The Late Show finished first in total viewers among late-night talk shows with 3.81 million, to 2.44 million for The Tonight Show and 2.04 million for Jimmy Kimmel Live. In 2023-24, The Late Show remained No. 1, but with only about 2.6 million viewers — a decline of about 32 percent from 2018-19.

Gutfield is growing Colbert is dying. In a few more years Colbert will just fade away.

First off, your man Greg is on at prime time, Colbert at 11:30, second, your man Greg’s ratings peaked because he had Trump and Mahar on, and third, he is the only show in town for the right while the other late night shows split their audience which in total dwarf Greggie’s

And just like Beck, O’Reilly, Tucker, etc, Greg is just the latest line, his style of demagoguery will get predictable and boring in time just like his predecessors

called for the return of Johnny Carson to The Tonight Show.
Jack Benny, Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Jay Leno et al were true comedians that were actually funny.
Conan O’Brien is probably the last of them.
There’s absolutely nothing funny about Kimmel and Colbert, in fact they’re annoying.
Kimmel was good on The Man Show together with Adan Carolla. But that was years ago.

Trump was pissed off largely because Colbert said he had Trump on as a guest in the past and wouldn’t care to have him on in the future because Trump was boring, one thing Donnie’s narcissism can’t stand is being called boring
Gutfeld had 5 million viewers on the night Trump was on.

According to Nielsen MRI Fusion, Gutfeld! attracts more Independents and Democrats than the competition. Notably, for 2024 so far, Gutfeld! is outpacing all broadcast and late-night television, including CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, CBS’ After Midnight and Comedy Central’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Since its launch in April 2021, Gutfeld! has increased its audience by 81% in total viewers, 37% in the 25-54 demo and 52% in the 18-49 demo. Gutfeld! is also home to the most affluent audience in the 25-54 demo and the most politically balanced audience in its cable news timeslot, according to data from Nielsen and Nielsen MRI Fusion, respectively.

I liked Carlson and Leno because they took shots at both sides. Kimmel and Cobert are just mean sprited. And their "jokes" only go one way.

What's next going after The View?!!

Donald Trump is angry at late-night talk show host Stephen Colbert after watching a PBS interview with him Tuesday night.

Trump took to Truth Social late at night to vent about Colbert, who seems to have gotten under the former president’s skin after saying that Trump would not be returning to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert as a guest.

“I briefly watched an interview of Stephen Colbert on highly government subsidized PBS, and found it fascinating for only one reason—Why would they be wasting time and the public’s money on this complete and total loser?” Trump posted Tuesday. “He is not funny, which he gets paid far too much to be, he is not wise, he is VERY BORING, and his show is dying from a complete lack of viewers—Gutfeld, on cable, is killing him

“CBS should terminate his contract and pick almost anyone, right off the street, who would do better, and for FAR LESS MONEY—Or I could recommend someone, much more talented, and smarter, who would do it for FREE! The good news for Stephen is that the two DOPES on NBC & ABC are not much better than him!” Trump added.

Trump’s post was very over-the-top compared to what Colbert actually said about Trump in a Monday interview with PBS Newshour’s Amna Nawaz.

“I have had him before, and he was kind of boring. So, no,” Colbert said in response to a question about if Trump would appear again on the CBS show. Colbert was on PBS with his wife, Evie, to talk about their new cookbook, Does This Taste Funny?

This isn’t the first time that Trump has attacked a media network or journalist over their less than flattering coverage of him. It’s also the second night in a row that Trump has complained about late-night TV hosts. On Monday, he ranted against Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, and called for the return of Johnny Carson to The Tonight Show. It’s unclear whether Trump was just reminiscing about the legendary TV host, who passed away in 2005, or if he thought Carson was still alive and could actually return.

After all, Trump has been showing signs of cognitive decline for quite a while and has mistakenly referred to famous dead people as alive, most famously abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Of course, the former president and convicted felon has also been known to lash out at celebrities who slight him, like Taylor Swift, bothering even his ardent supporters.

Fuck you asshole, you supported the assassination of your political opponent so, fuck you!

the propaganda comedy shows after the nightly news are disgusting anymore

libtards would be furious of they were subjected to all that propaganda bullshit
I would not be furious.

I would just turn to a different station.

Why is that a problem for you people? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that is the way to handle programs that annoy you.

Trump has NO sense of humor about himself. None.
I got this from my Quora feed:

Nate White, a British writer penned the best description of Donald Trump I’ve ever read:

“Why do some British people not like Donald Trump?”

A few things spring to mind. Trump lacks certain qualities which the British traditionally esteem. For instance, he has no class, no charm, no coolness, no credibility, no compassion, no wit, no warmth, no wisdom, no subtlety, no sensitivity, no self-awareness, no humility, no honour and no grace – all qualities, funnily enough, with which his predecessor Mr. Obama was generously blessed. So for us, the stark contrast does rather throw Trump’s limitations into embarrassingly sharp relief.

Plus, we like a laugh. And while Trump may be laughable, he has never once said anything wry, witty or even faintly amusing – not once, ever. I don’t say that rhetorically, I mean it quite literally: not once, not ever. And that fact is particularly disturbing to the British sensibility – for us, to lack humour is almost inhuman. But with Trump, it’s a fact. He doesn’t even seem to understand what a joke is – his idea of a joke is a crass comment, an illiterate insult, a casual act of cruelty.

Trump is a troll. And like all trolls, he is never funny and he never laughs; he only crows or jeers. And scarily, he doesn’t just talk in crude, witless insults – he actually thinks in them. His mind is a simple bot-like algorithm of petty prejudices and knee-jerk nastiness.

There is never any under-layer of irony, complexity, nuance or depth. It’s all surface. Some Americans might see this as refreshingly upfront. Well, we don’t. We see it as having no inner world, no soul. And in Britain we traditionally side with David, not Goliath. All our heroes are plucky underdogs: Robin Hood, Dick Whittington, Oliver Twist. Trump is neither plucky, nor an underdog. He is the exact opposite of that. He’s not even a spoiled rich-boy, or a greedy fat-cat. He’s more a fat white slug. A Jabba the Hutt of privilege.

And worse, he is that most unforgivable of all things to the British: a bully. That is, except when he is among bullies; then he suddenly transforms into a snivelling sidekick instead. There are unspoken rules to this stuff – the Queensberry rules of basic decency – and he breaks them all. He punches downwards – which a gentleman should, would, could never do – and every blow he aims is below the belt. He particularly likes to kick the vulnerable or voiceless – and he kicks them when they are down.

So the fact that a significant minority – perhaps a third – of Americans look at what he does, listen to what he says, and then think ‘Yeah, he seems like my kind of guy’ is a matter of some confusion and no little distress to British people, given that:

• Americans are supposed to be nicer than us, and mostly are.

• You don’t need a particularly keen eye for detail to spot a few flaws in the man.

This last point is what especially confuses and dismays British people, and many other people too; his faults seem pretty bloody hard to miss. After all, it’s impossible to read a single tweet, or hear him speak a sentence or two, without staring deep into the abyss. He turns being artless into an art form; he is a Picasso of pettiness; a Shakespeare of shit. His faults are fractal: even his flaws have flaws, and so on ad infinitum.

God knows there have always been stupid people in the world, and plenty of nasty people too. But rarely has stupidity been so nasty, or nastiness so stupid. He makes Nixon look trustworthy and George W look smart. In fact, if Frankenstein decided to make a monster assembled entirely from human flaws – he would make a Trump.

And a remorseful Doctor Frankenstein would clutch out big clumpfuls of hair and scream in anguish: ‘My God… what… have… I… created?' If being a twat was a TV show, Trump would be the boxed set.”

Colbert is whip smart and hilarious. It's the format of the traditional talk show that holds him back but even he elevates it by being very smart and personable to his guests.

If you want to see him be hilarious watch Strangers With Candy, a turn of the millennium show on Comedy Central with his long time friends Amy Sidaris and Paul Dinello.

If you want him to be smart and poignant watch this interview with Anderson Cooper

Then why is Gutfield beating him.
Because MAGAts lack common sense. RWers only have one major cable network catering to their needs. Ergo, Gutfeld is the only game in town for them. The LWers and moderates split their viewship among three broadcast networks.

Additionally, in the 25-54 demographic, Gutfeld topped the cable news landscape with 325,000 viewers.

Gutfeld is funny to MAGAts. Finding out what people find funny is an insight into their culture. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/...aughing-different-jokes-humor-across-cultures

Like Trump, MAGAts can't laugh at themselves. Their humor lacks self-deprecation. They're great at ridiculing others, but never themselves unless it's done sarcastically. IMO, this has to do with RW views on masculinity and partially explains their disdaining views of women. Especially "uppity" women. LOL

South Park is funny because they ridicule everybody. LOL Colbert takes a lot of pokes at Trump, but he also pokes hard at the Left including Biden, Harris and the rest. You'll never see Gutfeld ridicule Trump.
