The comparison was specifically about enflaming countrymen. Both men were & are adept at that.

Trump & Hitler had/have separate goals. Doesn't mean that how they arrive at those goals isn't similar.

There are literally thousands of politicians throughout history that have done that. Using that particular combination satisfies Godwin's Law. Aside from that, Hitler wasn't particularly adept at that given that he was elected on just shy of 30% of the German vote.

The comparisons don't end there. Both command cults of personality. Both have a messianic quality to their followers, and literally could/can do no wrong in their eyes. Trump has his Reichstag fires, for sure. Both have/had similar attitudes toward the rules & institutions of their governments - Hitler got rid of his, and Trump only wants to at this point.

What you can do is judge how they handle it once it arrives. And you do that by comparing how the rest of the world is handling it. Are you better or worse than others.

You simply cannot ignore other nations unless you want to create stupid bubble type conclusions that are not connected to reality. It is only in ignoring it one can assume the US should not suffer inflation an that type of conclusion is stupid to put on a POTUS just as saying Covid reaching US shores is a POTUS fault.

Biden's moves are getting better outcomes in managing inflation as compared to pretty near every other nation. And since wages in the US and jobs are also going up in the US that helps ease the pain of inflation, for US citizens. Derps on the right wanted to cut wages and jobs which would have hurt citizens more.

Pretty thin stuff there... Other than the Vanity Fair article, it's all personal anecdote. The Vanity Fair article whines about Trump wanting to do what many past US Presidents have, sweep out what they see as politically incorrect management in the federal government and replace it with their own. I wonder, would the writer of that article be as willing to make that argument if it were, say, FDR he was writing about?
