Tucker Carlson hits back at claims he’s a Russia propagandist

The top-rated Fox host has been taking flak on social media and cable news for saying he was "rooting" for Russia in 2019 and, more recently, complaining that Ukraine is "not even a democracy" ahead of the Russian invasion. Since then, he's boosted an invasion-justifying conspiracy theory on his show suggesting that Russia's purposes in Ukraine are to dismantle secret biological research facilities.

Carlson insists that, despite the words he spoke, he is not a booster for Russia.

“Who’s siding with Putin? I haven’t seen anybody do that,” he said on a recent show.

While he is often a target of derision from the left, perhaps the most damning evidence against him comes from his fans; Russian state media.

Mother Jones recently published a selection of reportedly leaked Kremlin memos which instructed government-aligned media outlets in the country that it was "essential to use as much as possible" clips of Carlson blaming Ukraine, the US, and NATO for the invasion.

IMHO, the right wing noise machine couldn't give a rat's ass about Ukraine or Putin.....it's just another avenue to discredit the Dem party for votes in the upcoming elections (and no, Trump isn't getting back in...even the GOP isn't arrogant or stupid enough to let that happen!).

Hell, all types of BS about Covid comes out every blessed day that strains the boundaries of common sense and cognitive reasoning. Infra-structure, job market, drug prices, housing, crime, policing, guns, etc., etc. I think all these affect me more than wtf happens in Ukraine....yet tons of money for that, and damned little for us at home.

The media is showing a lot more sympathy for the Ukraine. Do you think they are giving aid and comfort? Since we are not at war neither country is really our enemy.

It seems there is an industry that takes almost any issue and seeks to make the public doubt the stories they are getting because there is some conspiracy to hide the truth. I'm not sure whether it is to attract clicks to their website for money or just get attention. Tucker brought up the biological research labs (suggesting that is the reason for the invasion). China and QAnon are also encouraging the labs story. Russia has been pushing this story since 1949 and in 1950 said the United States was sending Colorado potato beetles that had been infected with a new virus to poison potato crops in East Germany.

I have a relative who says the Ukraine has child sex traffickers that Putin is going after. Some sources claim the war is a hoax and the wounded we see on TV are "crisis actors." Some are just happy because they think the invasion shows Biden's weakness.

We have been at philosophical and strategic odds with Russia for nearly a century. We have had proxy wars and when we were attacking another country, Russia helped them, just as we did helping Afghanistan when they were fighting there. It is bad that we have never been able to trust each other, but that is the sad truth. They vote against us in the UN too.
Ukraine was making strides toward NATO and the UN. They are capitalistic and far closer to our values than Russia is.
Tucker gave a story that is totally Russian slant.He has been leaning pro-Putin, just like trump.

I agree, but from the point of view of charging someone with treason, we have to actually be at war with that country. Helping Russia would more likely result in espionage charges than treason (which can also carry the death penalty).
