I think Al Gore deliberately sent the women into N. Korea so that he could play the role of 'hero' when he charges into N. Korea to negotiate their safe return.

;)

I just watched a piece on this on Anderson Cooper. It seems that it is very possible that they did not enter NK on their own, but that they were kidnapped by NK border guards who entered China for that purpose. Apparently this is not uncommon practice. The NK govt. is said to pay some Chinese for giving information about people, both NK refugees and people like these reporters, to the guards.

I fear that this situation is going to become a lot touchier before it is resolved.

The NK government is sort of renowned for kidnapping people, including 20 Japanese, hundreds of South Koreans, and I think a few Taiwanese. It is just surreal reading those reports with the knowledge that there is actually a government performing these utterly psychotic actions.

Kinda like the rendition thing? At least those women got trials unlike those in Gitmo.
Even though the trials were about as rigged as Republicans actually reducing spending and govt.

Ok....ok... so back to being serious... I wouldn't doubt the above in the least. NK is desperate. Long Duck Dong needs to show his people how 'powerful' he is and I wouldn't doubt for a second they would pull something like this to put the focus back on NK.

I completely agree this is likely to get a whole lot messier before its over.

My predicition, Gore goes in to negotiate and they hold him hostage and try to ransom him back to the US for $100b. The US quickly laughs and says hell no. NK then continues to drop the price until they end up paying the US to take Gore back. Gore is pissed. As he is flying back on his private jet he calls Obama to bitch about the snub. In the middle of his temper tantrum he takes no notice of the pilot walking by. But even Gore notices when the pilot opens the door of the plane and parachutes out... as the engines quit. Then over the roar of the wind ripping through the plane, he hears this loud laughter coming from his phone. He is not sure, but he could have sworn he heard Obama say 'good one, Hillary' amidst all the laughter.
