Two weeks after ending lockdown, Texas sees surge in cases

We are going to have to go through a second, longer round of social distancing again...and this time, the businesses that re-opened are going to close for good.

I don't believe most people realize the operating expenses that are required to shutter, re-open, and then shutter again.

Most of those businesses that re-opened will not survive.

That's the tragedy of this utter failure by the administration. It's going to be a very, very long winter. This next round might be six months instead of a couple.

This story here is why 100K deaths will be a victory...

Yes, but not for the reasons you cite.

The real story is making 100K dead "a victory" when we were told there would be zero cases back in February/March, or that it would "disappear in the Spring".

That's the story; the story of moving goalposts and normalizing preventable deaths.

Try reading your own fucking article retard it's because they've ramped up testing not because the infection rate is actually growing:

"as the state ramps up testing in areas that it has declared high risk."

Way to fail yet again retard.

False. The number of tests given daily has actually dropped slightly since April 30th. Simple research would have told you that. Quit being lazy.

Watching you discover that more testing = more cases is a bit frustrating because it's what Trump tried to hide by not testing people when he should have.

Yeah...and lots of businesses are going to close for good, lots of people are going to lose their jobs and health care, and lots of "lone wolves" like Teflon are going to enact biological terrorism by taking their filthy, diseased asses out and exposing people because wearing masks is a no-no in Conservatism.

Trump has tested millions of more people than any other country on the planet retard. This has nothing to do with opening but with increased testing so shove your bullshit fearmongering using fake statistics.

False you're a lying faggot the article clearly says they ramped up testing you illiterate piece of shit:

"as the state ramps up testing in areas that it has declared high risk."

And shocker those areas would be the Democrat controlled cities of Houston and Dallas that are not reopening:

"Currently, the largest number of cases have been reported in the state's two largest counties: Dallas County and Harris County, which includes the city of Houston."

Of course they are ramping up testing in those areas, BECAUSE MORE PEOPLE ARE INFECTED. Overall, the state has actually decreased the amount of testing over the last two weeks. Not by much, but testing is DOWN in Texas, not up. Fact.

I'm sure you'll need some help reading a chart, so let me know when you do. It's a picture, so you should have an easier time with it.

Yeah, but he tested too late. We needed to test millions at the start so we knew where the hotspots were. Now, the entire country is a hotspot. We only tested about 400 people in February, while South Korea tested 55,000.

We need at least 30 MILLION tests a day.

Trump dropped the ball, which means you dropped the ball since you live vicariously through him.

Of course they are ramping up testing in those areas, BECAUSE MORE PEOPLE ARE INFECTED.

Kill yourself you literal fucking retard, there are more confirmed cases because they have increased testing not the other way around you fucking moron. Your graph was last updated on May 12th and its projected tests for today are way higher than for April 30th learn to read a fucking graph.

If he's selective, then so are you. There is no place in the country that is fully reopened. In the places that have begun to reopen, we've seen one of two things.... either new cases have increased after being on the decline, or new cases have leveled off (which is the case in Georgia. That being said, it is still too early to establish definitively the impact of 're-opening'. And it is also way too early draw any conclusions on what reopening actually means for an increase in economic activity.

So allowing economic activity has no bearing on economic activity??? Gawd, you are lost, Katz. Maybe you should stop listening to fake news.

N95 masks don't stop a virus.
6 feet doesn't stop a virus.

We have tested, to date, about 10 million people in the US.

Most of those tests happened this month.

By May, the virus had already been spreading across the country for two months.

So bragging about inadequate testing today is probably the weakest flex ever.

We need to be testing 30M people a day.

So allowing economic activity has no bearing on economic activity??? Gawd, you are lost, Katz. Maybe you should stop listening to fake news.

You can't read, can you? Allowing economic activity is dependent on the behavior of the consumer. Is that really so difficult to understand? Would a little pop up picture book help you?

So I was right. You can't read a chart. Run along.

Agreed. Tennessee will set a new all time high for daily cases today as well. It's starting to happen in several states. It will only get worse.
My sympathies but quarantine isn't an option anymore. We have no choice but to open up smart.

That means any business that wants to open gets to open.
It's upto patrons to decide if they want to use that business or not.

Simple quarantine is not an option anymore - I think we should have opened up May 1st,but surely everyone should be able to open up today. Not to do so is an economic death sentence for small business.

Kill yourself you literal fucking retard, there are more confirmed cases because they have increased testing not the other way around you fucking moron.

More testing = more cases

So of course we are going to see an increase in confirmed cases as people are tested.

The point is this testing should have happened in February, not May, and it should have been concentrated in the hotspots. Randomly testing people piecemeal across the nation is pointless because you could test on Monday, get infected Tuesday, and show that you're negative when you get the results on Wednesday.

The fact is you were lazy. So, so, so lazy. You were lazy and you didn't take this seriously. Now you're trying to flex about current inadequate testing? We need way more tests than what we're having now.

No one should have to go back for a second test. But they're gonna have to, because you were too fucking lazy and too fucking scared to test people earlier this year, when it could have made a difference.

You failed. Miserably, and now 91,000 people have died, and hundreds of thousands more will die in the next few months.

All thanks to you.

Yeah, but he tested too late. We needed to test millions at the start so we knew where the hotspots were.

Ya we needed to find, get approval for, mass produce, and mass produce millions of tests for a previously unknown virus from the start, because magic.

Now, the entire country is a hotspot. We only tested about 400 people in February, while South Korea tested 55,000.

Source?

We need at least 30 MILLION tests a day.

Trump dropped the ball, which means you dropped the ball since you live vicariously through him.

Ya we should be able to test the entire population in ten days. God you're fucking dumb.
