Really Howey you have some very disturbing views on the people who live in Arab countries. Nuke them? Really?
Tell me, which recent war has been worth the cost?
Well, and I'm going to play devils advocate here, it depends on what you think we gain. If you look at the short term, then obviously we've gained nothing. But if you look at long term, and believe (as I do) that the two wars either started out of whole cloth or sped up the process of the Arab Spring, then yes the cost MAY have been worth it. Long term regional stability and the global economy is much better served by a democratic ME. Of course there is no guarantee in any of this, so it most certainly is a gamble.
Hint: Anytime I holler out "NUKE 'EM" , it's a satirical jab at the neocons of yore.
If the Arab Spring brings Democracy, but I feel the Arab Spring would have happened regardless, so I do not feel the cost of Iraq was worth it.
I agree, it doesn't always have to happen at gunpoint. Slow and steady progress works, too.
Well, Arab Spring has already suffered it's first casualty in Egypt. I honestly, and I expect to take some flack for this, don't believe that democracy can work in the fundamentalist Muslim world. If you read political philosophy, the Protestant reformation was the precursor to democratic forms of government. Without it the process, likely, would have been slower.Well, and I'm going to play devils advocate here, it depends on what you think we gain. ps - I personally would be happy to offer all the women and children of Afghanistan a place here in the US - for those who want it - far away from the male religious zealots that control their lives there. But doubt I could get support for that from congress.
Are you kidding?????
We don't have no room for dem dere messicans and towelheads!
ROFL! We'll put them all in Utah....
I know this is a very serious topic, but I swear - when I see in the list about "faster pullout" my mind just goes in a very different direction than military...
Don't feel bad, tekky. I had visions of generic conservative's wife's thoughts in bed hoping for a quick pullout with no foreplay, of course. I'm confident it was very quick, IYKWIM.

You will be able to see for yourself what happens to the women of Afghanistan when the military pulls out, hope you will be happy.
