The government has been re-paving roads everywhere to the point where asphalt prices have nearly doubled. And you want them to build more roads.

There are other infrastructure jobs besides roads. The reduction to the budget would be due to eliminating contractors. The point is offer any contracted job to veterans if they can do it or can be trained. That would reduce the budget and give the veterans a job.

Maintain the same pay as they currently receive or let them find their own job. What could be more fair?

The point is for the government to take advantage of the unemployment situation. In everyday life when major construction projects come to an end one is able to obtain the services of construction workers at a reduced rate. If one wants to build an addition on to their home they will get a much better price obtaining contractors in the fall rather than the spring when demand is high. With low interest rates and veterans returning from Iraq now is the time for government to get projects done at reduced rates. Even if the debt increases they will save money in the long run.

It's that old saying, "Spend money to save money." For example, if ones roof is leaking it's better to take a loan and fix the roof rather than wait until one has saved enough money. By then the gyprock/wallboard will have rotted and the job would be much larger. But you knew that, didn't you?

The reason is that petroleum is a global market, and your Democrat Party's police of "quantitative easing" (printing money with nothing to back it up) has devalued the national currency. Food prices have increased for the same reason, although a lesser amount due to local, regional and national market forces.
