The clearest sign yet tariff inflation is hitting companies: Wholesale prices jumped the most in three years

The cost of wholesale goods and services — where rising inflation tends to show up first — posted the biggest increase in July in three years, possibly heralding a sizable acceleration in price hikes tied to U.S. tariffs.

The producer-price index jumped 0.9% last month after no change in June, the government said Thursday. The surge was a big surprise to Wall Street.

“We are starting to see that inflationary pressure is bubbling,” said Jennifer Lee, senior economist at BMO Capital Markets.

This surge in wholesale prices means companies have been eating the cost of tariffs for now, but that is unlikely to last.
They are only able to eat so much and when it starts hurting their bottom line they have to start passing some of those increases on to the consumer.
And just think NOT all of Trump's tariffs have worked through the supply chain and when they do we will be paying a lot more for just about everything we buy.

I keep hearing MAGA's talk about the booming economy and how amazing things are.

I'd guess they just live on a different planet. Trump is incompetent. Easily the most successful grifter in world history.

They do. Anyone complaining that prices are higher is a "poor shopper," and should learn to find sales and STFU. This is, of course, a 180 degree shift from when *they* were wailing about the price of eggs and blaming Biden. *eyeroll*

I don't see anything that is going to incentivize corporations to plow billions of dollars and lose months or years of sales in these tariffs, do you? Nope. They'll just keep importing stuff and passing the extra cost along to us while they wait for the #TangerineTyrant to leave office.

And when and IF they do build new plants and infrastructure they will spend the extra money and put in as much automation and AI as they can and not hire very many people.

The sky is still not falling...;)
And ASSHOLES like you stay under your rock and can't see that the price of just about everything we buy are still going up, even going out and " finding bargains " the price of them are going up too.
And you MAGAS keep crying " Buy American " well a lot of the things that are " American made " contain parts that have to be imported and the price of them are going up too.
So people will be spending more for the things they need EVEN IF they shop and only buy bargains.
Then add an extra percent or two to the price because the transporters, wholesalers and retailers are padding their bottom line and blaming it all on the tariffs.
Trump and his tariffs are driving the cost of bargains and everything else up.

So don't buy it at that price...there are sales...take advantage of them...
Or just continue to complain, and pay the higher prices that are out there...that's your choice...
