UAW demands LOL

I did not know these UAW workers did not get a pension, anyone hired after 2007 got a 401K, that sucks! I hope they a get their pensions back in any kind of deal?!! The UAW workers use to have great benefits as in pensions and medical, a lot of people I went to high school with, went to work for GM, Ford, and Chrysler and are retired now with pensions?!! I retired from federal civil service with a lifetime pension?!!

UAW Wants a 45% Raise, 32-Hour Work Week get paid for 40 hours

They can go suck on cocks...replace um all!
This is what they did just before the crash that left the industry in shambles. This is going to be interesting. There are a number of non union shops in Right To Work states that won't be affected by this strike.

They were so greedy, they had to give up a lot in exchange for a govt. bailout. The industry is reaping record profits due to artificial supply chain claims after Covid.

I guess labor wants a piece of the pie. The problem is, the gains are fleeting and the union must be prepared to give back their inflated wages/perks during lean times.

Obama was a genius. When GM got its bailout, the union became part owner in the company. In essence, they would be negotiating against themselves in any labor talks.

Profit is not as bad word dipshit, its a CEOs job to make as much as possible. If the guy making 16.00 is not happy with that quit find other work!

Sure they are, but when they double their own salary and the company ranks in billions in profit seems logical the working force should also share in the good fortune

And that is why Unions are formed, so everyone isn’t competing over filling minimum salary jobs, America isn’t Texas

Maybe govt should get out of the business of deciding which companies will succeed and which will fail.

So what? Those auto workers will get jobs with increased demand for foreign manufacturers in the U.S.
Anyway, tell that to archives. She’s the one complaining about domestic auto companies making TOO MUCH profit.

Never complained about companies making too much profit, that is a lie, rather that companies that do profit immensely should share some of the profit with those making the product

OK. So in the years they have losses they should cut wages and benefits too?

They do, it's called wages.

And the workers now feel they are entitled to an increase in wages, it ain’t feudalism, and in some circumstances wage decreases are part of the contract, in addition to position cuts

Can tell you have never been a member of a Union

Demanding huge compensation increases as the products they build are increasingly shoddy because of poor build quality....that sounds like America circa 2023.

Anyone stupid enough to sign a contract with wage decreases and position cuts deserves what they get.

Clearly you can't. The day I realized I got exactly nothing for the dues I paid I gave my 2 week notice. I have never worked for a union since and never will. I'm not THAT stupid. Clearly agreeing to a contact with wave and position cuts shows how stupid some people are.

“Here is a list of the UAW’s demands” (48% is Fox’s)

“Eliminate tiers. Currently, automakers have a tiered wage system. Workers in the first tier earn about $28 per hour, and those hired after 2007 are in the second tier and earn about $16 to $19 per hour.”
“Wage increases. The UAW is demanding double-digit pay raises.
”Restore COLA. The UAW is demanding Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) be restored.”
“Defined benefit pension for all workers.”
“Re-establish retiree medical benefits.”
“Right to strike over plant closures.”
“Working family protection program.”
“Make temporary workers permanent.”
“More paid time off.”
“Increase retiree pay.”

Given the automakers recorded billions in profit last year, executives gave themselves forty percent raises, and some workers start at $16 an hour, a double digit pay raise doesn’t seem that unreasonable

And the automakers would lose more if they had to replace close to 150,000 skilled and semi skilled workers
Automakers raped the consumers last year. They did indeed reap record profits and should share the spoils via bonuses.

Before the industry took a shit and had to be bailed out, floor moppers were making $28/hour. That was reduced in the restructuring, as it should have been.

There are absolutely ridiculous pay/benefit structures in place right now. The upper echelon should be giving up some of their bloat to newer workers.

And obviously, CEO pay/bennies should be cut to share with labor.
