That's right, start of the "U" dynasty.

I think '83 was the year of Moses Malone's 'we'll win in Fo Fo & Fo' comment as well.

And just like this year, the Phillies lost in the World Series.

We're saved!! O but it would have been so much worse, just think without TARP and Stimulus unemployment would be 100% and there would be anarchy....

......and the 'Canes won't win the championship this year either. I'm trying to think of the great U of Houston center of that year, Olajuwon? I just answered my own question, he and Jordan both came out the following year. Houston made it to the finals, NC didn't so Olajuwon went first to Houston, MJ 3rd, thank God, to the Bulls.

However, it must have been a bad year for employment. (Staying on topic).

never in that time frame. we'll continue to see double digit unemployment for the next 12 - 18 months, if not longer, because CEOs and board members know that the government is not going to let them fail by forking over billions of taxpayer dollars. There is no incentive at all for them to change the current policy as long as they are getting theirs.
I think your essentially right. Things are looking brighter for those who currently hold jobs, it's going to be much longer before things get better for the unemployed. Those who lost their jobs are probably not going to go back to their old jobs. The economy will have to expand and create new jobs before enemployment declines.

Figured you'd be posting this.

It's a bad figure, but I expect this to turn around in the next 3-6 months if current indicators of recovery hold.

I certainly knew you wouldn't be posting it. It's all Obama's baby now. I expect it to continue going up.

Unemployment figures are subjective as hell. I heard that the "real" figure is more like 17%, by counting folks who are underemployed, or gave up looking.

you would think someone who has nearly a trillion dollar stimulus to play with that he could create numerous jobs instead of pansying around claiming he saved or created jobs...

We're saved!! O but it would have been so much worse, just think without TARP and Stimulus unemployment would be 100% and there would be anarchy....

Probably 20% or so. Maybe not anarchy but political radicalism would likely reach heights not seen since the great depression, as people lost faith in liberal democracy and the free market thanks to mismanagement by ignorant Austrian proles.
