Unemployment is down

I find it extraordinary that we now have people cheering 7.8% unemployment as if it's a GOOD thing! Even more extraordinary is the fact these very same cheerleaders were claiming the worst economy since the Great Depression when it was at 6% under Bush. If anything can be more extraordinary, it's that a president is trying to be re-elected, pretty much on the sole basis of this 7.8% unemployment achievement.

Before Obama was elected, I predicted satirically, that by the end of his term, we'd all be eating shit sandwiches, standing around a burning barrel with the homeless, and democrats would be talking about how wonderful it is that Obama has brought us all together like this. It was indeed sarcasm, but I wasn't too far off, was I?

Whats funny is watching partisan Righties like yourself pretend that 7.8 unemployment isn't a good thing compared to the 10. unemployment earlier.

but you go right on telling everyone how HORRIBLE 7.8 is, it only cements your status as just another partisan who isn't interested in honest discussion.

Oh...and btw...you were WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY off in your prediction...not that we expected you to discuss that honestly either...but fyi you were way off.

It's your credibility that's being called into question because once again, just like the good little partisan water carrier, you conveniently DON'T hear the desperation coming from the shrieking horde claiming Obama doctored the numbers...

zappa enters the debate and the derisive comments begin

I haven't denied or confirmed anything. I didn't answer your superfluous question. It doesn't have a damn thing to do with 7.8% unemployment.

The whole reason we're talking about this subject (7.8% unemployment) is because Obama has nothing really to run on, and this most recent UE number is at least something 'positive'. Granted, he promised us that unemployment would NEVER rise above 8% if we passed the stimulus, but let's not pay any attention to that fact, right?

Look at good ol Dix ducking and twisting and wriggling as fast as he can to avoid being pinned down on this subject.

I nominate his response for the most evasive post of the week!

dixie ,

Im seem to remember you trashing both uscitizen and me for the warnings we gave you all about the impending crash.

history proves your a smuck who has no idea what hes talking about
did you also warn us what a disaster the Obama presidency was going to be?......if not, it seems you're only batting 50%......

I have no idea what you think I am being 'evasive' about, I am schooling your ass, and YOU are being evasive. I also don't know about any prediction, but as usual, it's like we're having different conversations, and apparently you believe you are winning the one you think we're having.

You are wanting to compare Obama against Obama! Specifically, Obama's unemployment numbers from earlier in his presidency with the current percentage, and that is an invalid comparison. We have to compare 7.8% with what the UE rates were under Bush, to be fair... and it so happens the highest unemployment under Bush was 7.8% ...That was when we had "the worst economy since the great depression!" So Obama's best unemployment rate is equal to Bush's worst, and you are all waving it around like it's some kind of monumental accomplishment.

Now I clearly remember when Bush was president and the UE rate went to 7.8%... Liberal pinheads weren't dancing in the streets. To the contrary, it was the end of the world and Congress had to act to prevent us from total collapse, and Obama promised if we passed the stimulus the UE wouldn't rise above 8%... didn't turn out that way. Now come the spinmeisters, trying to paint a completely different picture. Pretending that Bush was president two years ago when UE was 10% under Obama's failure of a presidency.

The H1B brings intelligent, well-educated immigrants to the US, where they can possibly get citizenship and add a great deal to the US economy. Would you prefer that we target uneducated immigrants or something?

We should allow them to come with less limits on their ability to compete.

This prediction?

That's how you HOPED the country would be faring at the end of Obama's first term, but the facts are, things have turned out quite different from your hateful sarcasm.

The only people dining on shit sandwiches these days are you shameful Righties who cheer on Congressional obstructionists who put party loyalty ahead of what's good for the country.

Another Dixie lie? Say it ain't so!

Sorry, but the truth is that the 7.8 UE number Obama got saddled with in January of 09 was due solely to Bush's ruinous policies.

Everyone held their breath as Obama put his policies into play and slowly but surely, the number of unemployed leveled off and then...GASP...despite continuous Republican obstructionism, we saw the unemployment numbers BEGIN TO DROP. The TRUTH is that thanks to republican policies that favor the rich, we shot past 7.8 UE on our way to who knew where back in 09, and now as President Obama's first term comes to it's end we have passed 7.8 on our way to economic recovery thanks to the efforts of President Obama, and this just burns your biscuits, doesn't it?

Now I clearly remember when Bush was president and the UE rate went to 7.8%... Liberal pinheads weren't dancing in the streets. To the contrary, it was the end of the world and Congress had to act to prevent us from total collapse, and Obama promised if we passed the stimulus the UE wouldn't rise above 8%... didn't turn out that way. Liberals weren't "dancing in the streets" because the numbers were exploding upward from 7.8...now thanks to Obama's guidance, millions of jobs have been created, the numbers are falling back to Earth once again and all your spin won't change either of those facts. It may have taken a little longer than some would like, but the RECOVERY continues despite Republican efforts to derail it once again every chance they get.

Yes, things will get much better... when PRESIDENT ROMNEY is inaugurated. I can't wait for the day.

You are a dreamer and just like religion you will wake up to reality one of these days. The international economy has changed the WH things has happened in the world, the last forty years have brought us to this point and the USA has to change the way we allow things to be one to us. Chinese, Pakistanis can now do the jobs only our itizens ould once do and businesses take their jobs to the lowest bidder. Until we demand laws in p,ace to protect our selves this will continue to happen. You can squeeze your eyes tight nd pretend otherwise, but Rpmney is oe of those "guys" that Coe in to make companies profitable and screw our citizens in the process!

Again, you'll note that I stated this was sarcastic and satirical and not literally intended as a prediction, which apparently you are having to make it into now, in order to "prove me wrong" on a "prediction." In essence, things are much worse off than they were before Obama, and you are all trying desperately to convince us how great things are, in that respect, I was spot on.

Another Dixie lie? Say it ain't so!

Sorry, but the truth is that the 7.8 UE number Obama got saddled with in January of 09 was due....

Woah, wait a second, fucktard, Dixie didn't lie! The WORST unemployment under Bush was 7.8%, and the BEST unemployment rate under Obama is the current 7.8%... that is NOT a lie, that is a FACT and you can't refute that FACT. Now, you want to continue on with some long-winded "explanation" or "excuse" as to why this fact is slapping you in your goofy face, but you will have to resign yourself to FAILURE once again. This should be easy for you to do by now.

Liberals weren't "dancing in the streets" because the numbers were exploding upward from 7.8...now thanks to Obama's guidance, millions of jobs have been created, the numbers are falling back to Earth once again and all your spin won't change either of those facts. No, the numbers were fairly steady at 7.8%, up from a previous 7.7%, which was up from a previous 7.6%... When Obama took over, that's when they EXPLODED UPWARD to 10%, despite his PROMISE they wouldn't rise above 8%. They have just now returned to the 7.8% which was the very highest unemployment rate under Bush.

Republicans haven't derailed anything, Democrats controlled both houses of Congress for two years, and passed everything they wanted to pass. Since Republicans took the House in 2010, Democrats have obstructed, stonewalled, and demagogued everything republicans have put forth. Now you wish to pretend, along with pretending Bush was responsible for the 10% unemployment, that Republicans have stood in your way, when that is factually just not accurate.

Oh right...now it's "sarcastic" and "satirical" and "not intended as prediction" yet there you are claiming we as a country "aren't too far off" from your prediction that you now claim you didn't intend as a prediction.

Looks like you got some poopie on your nose while dining on your shit sandwich.

The fact is that every single month of the last year of Bush's second term, he owned the WORST unemployment this country had seen in DECADES. That you continue to hold Obama responsible for the horrible UE numbers he inherited from Bush shows what a partisan hack you are.

No, the numbers were fairly steady at 7.8%, up from a previous 7.7%, which was up from a previous 7.6%... When Obama took over, that's when they EXPLODED UPWARD to 10%, despite his PROMISE they wouldn't rise above 8%. Where's the numbers to back up your allegation, because the numbers I've got say you're full of shit.

The FACT is, during his last year in office, Bush's UE numbers looked like this:

2008: Jan-5.0 Feb-4.9 March-5.1 April-5.0 May-5.4 June-5.6 July-5.8 Aug-6.1 Sept-6.1 Oct-6.5 Nov-6.8 Dec-7.3

2009: Jan-7.8

So we see your claim that his numbers were climbing by a tenth of a point a month to be nonsense. In FACT...over the last 12 months of Bush's 2nd term, unemployment jumped NEARLY THREE POINTS.

How much did the number climb AFTER Obama took office? 2.3 points?

Sure looks like unemployment rose more during Bush's last year than Obama's entire first term...but you go right on blaming Obama for everything.

Republicans haven't derailed anything, Democrats controlled both houses of Congress for two years, and passed everything they wanted to pass. Since Republicans took the House in 2010, Democrats have obstructed, stonewalled, and demagogued everything republicans have put forth. That tired lie AGAIN?

A quick check of the interwebs shows that Obama only had control of both houses of congress for something like 41 days, but we all learned a LOOOOOOOONG time ago that it's not what's true that's important to you, it's what sells your bullshit.

Can you explain why the U6 number hasn't changed or do y just swallow up what OWEblahblah feeds you like a good cum guzzler?

Except that I stated very clearly it was a sarcastic presentation of satire when I said it. And the analogy fits... we are currently eating a proverbial 7.8% UE Shit Sandwich, and you are telling us everything is coming up roses!

The fact is that every single month of the last year of Bush's second term, he owned the WORST unemployment this country had seen in DECADES.
...until Obama owned an even WORSE string of even WORSER unemployment numbers his first three years. That's the detail you wish to ignore here, but that keeps slapping you in your goofy head.

That you continue to hold Obama responsible for the horrible UE numbers he inherited from Bush shows what a partisan hack you are.

His best UE numbers have ONLY been as good as Bush's worst UE numbers, we've established this. The fact that you want to attribute Obama's peak of 10% to Bush, is indicative of your partisan hackiness. As does the rest of your post, which I will decline to waste my time commenting on.

Of course you decline to comment on the other points I raised. To do so would highlight the partisan slant you have to resort to in order to continue to make your claim.

The FACT remains that during Bush's last year in office, UE rose nearly THREE FULL POINTS...a greater increase in UE than Obama saw during his entire first term...one simple fact that keeps slapping you upside your pointy little head.
