With his disgraceful actions yesterday, Liberman has shown himself unworthy of being an American senator. The senate needs to vote to unseat him, which will give Connecticut a chance to have a special election and replace him with a decent human being.

Liberals are once again engaging in their favorite sport: Joe Lieberman bashing.

The Connecticut senator and former Democratic vice-presidential nominee first drew liberal ire for his vocal support of President George W. Bush’s surge in Iraq. Now, Democrats are attacking him for pledging to stand with Republicans in filibustering the Senate health care bill if it contains a public option or a Medicare buy-in.

One influential liberal blogger, Jane Hamsher, is so enraged with Lieberman that she has asked the Susan B. Komen Foundation to fire Lieberman’s wife, Hadassah, from her role as international spokesperson for the breast cancer fighting charity. Hamsher has even implored celebrities associated with the organization to pressure the foundation to can Hadassah because of her husband’s position on the Senate health care bill. Talk about personal.

The Washington Post’s Ezra Klein went even farther by writing that Lieberman’s motivation in opposing the current Senate health care bill is nothing more than revenge against those liberals who opposed him in his 2006 Senate campaign. Worse, Klein charges, Lieberman “seems to be willing to cause the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people in order to settle an old electoral score.”

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) - Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut today shrugged off suggestions that he is becoming one of the most despised men in the U.S. Senate, telling reporters, "I will continue to fight for the people I represent: America's assholes."

While Sen. Lieberman's decision to align himself with the nation's assholes could be a high-risk strategy, politically speaking, a new poll of likely Connecticut voters indicates that they are a key constituency for the Senator.

According to the survey, over 62 percent of Sen. Lieberman's supporters describe themselves as an "asshole, douchebag, or dickwad."

I guess you've forgotten how nasty the conservatives got when Arlen Specter changed parties, all the comments and pictures about "turncoat" and "traitor".

Face it, personal destruction is a tactic of both parties.

There is a huge difference in the reasons why lieberman switched parties and why specter switched parties, though I do agree with you that both parties employ personal destruction politics.

1) Specter switched parties, Lieberman created his own party.

2) The reasons for both switching are exactly the same. Specter can't win a Republican primary in PA and Lieberman didn't win a Democratic primary in CT. Jumping ship was the only way for each of them to remain in office.

Lieberman is a DISGRACE to the office of US senator, as is anyone who opposes HCR. They all need to be unseated by a majority senate vote, and if anyone is elected to replace them that supports HCR the same action needs to be taken. The founders would have hung conservatives, I see no reason we should treat them any different.
