It’s still not a tropical depression, but it could bring hurricane force winds to the Gulf Coast in a few days.

The National Hurricane Center said Wednesday morning that an area of low pressure in the northern Gulf had a 90 percent chance of becoming a tropical depression, and that could happen as soon as tonight.

There is not much that could keep it from gaining some strength, and it could reach the Gulf Coast later this week as Tropical Storm — or possibly even Hurricane — Barry.

Forecasters have also said that hurricane and tropical storm watches may be needed for some of those areas, possibly later today.

As of Wednesday morning the broad area of low pressure was located about 100 miles south-southwest of Apalachicola, Florida.

The first tropical system to slam the US this year is expected to make landfall as a hurricane.

The National Hurricane Center predicts Tropical Storm Barry will form in the Gulf of Mexico by Thursday and strengthen to a hurricane by Saturday, when it is expected to make landfall in Louisiana.
The tropical system has already spawned its first tornado warning and flash flood emergency.
Both warnings were in effect Wednesday morning for parts of Louisiana, including rain-drenched New Orleans, where streets and underpasses are flooding.

Residents from Houston to Mobile, Alabama, are bracing for the system's wrath.

Guno the weatherman.......are weather reports now going to be classified as 'political current events'?

Yep, the vast majority of Black Americans live in the Southern States. It's why Dems are so excited about this storm.

Daily weather reports have certainly become "climate change", that's for sure. And of course the undefined "climate change" is pure political.
So to your question I'd say the answer is 'yes'.
Daily weather reports should be posted in the General Politics Forum.
