Update: Storm could bring hurricane force winds to the Gulf coast later this week

Update from The Delta:

People gassing up their cars, stockpiling groceries, putting water in jugs and sticking them in Refrigerators to freeze in case Power goes out. Starting to rain.
Usually, Tropical Storms are pleasant events, lots of Rain, Thunder, Lightening.

... End of Transmission.

On the plus side, at least only Trump voters will die.

:truestory:

??
The great bulk of people in that area are in Houston, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans:

Houston: 54% Clinton
Baton Rouge: 53% Clinton
New Orleans: 80% Clinton

"Anybody who would build a city 5 feet below sea level in a hurricane zone and fill it with Democrats who can’t swim is a damn genius."

Sister-in-law lives in Houma. They moved down there a year and a half ago so this will be their first big blow. Hope you all can stay dry!

It's a 'Tropical Storm'. Usually a 'fun' event, ... unless you live in a 'low area'. Houma is pretty far south and near the water. Hope they are 'high' and avoid any house flooding.
Don't mean to pry, but why would anybody move to Houma?

"Are you sure we’re in the right place?” I asked my husband as we drove past the shuttered storefronts and deserted sidewalks of Houma, La. We were at the tail end of a Gulf Coast road trip and had just arrived at the Terrebonne Parish seat, where we’d come for some Cajun culture. In Houma (pronounced Home-a), people still converse in a French incomprehensible to most Frenchmen. Cajun dance halls are full. Oysters are plucked from local waters and dumped directly onto your plate. Or so I’d heard."

They moved there for his job. Quite a culture shock for ppl who have lived their entire lives in rural Illinois and rural Indiana. They're Super Christians and had a hard time finding a simpatico church (and religious school for their son) that wasn't Catholic. They seem to like it though. I dunno about their house though. It's in a subdivision that has a lake in the center; the whole area is flat as a pancake. There is a gator who lives in the lake that they see now and then. I asked her if they named him yet. She said his name is "Oh shit." lol

Probably a Plus that they have a 'lake'. Sometimes the Developer will dredge a central area and use the material as 'fill' to elevate the surrounding land. The rain then runs off towards the 'lake'.
Most of the French descendants are Catholic, but not so much that they don't enjoy Life. If they are from the rural Midwest, they should feel comfortable in 'rural' Houma. 'Oh Shit' is a good name.
Probably more than one. :)

Heheheh. Yeah, that's how their subdivision was built, with the lake for drainage.

The video on the news last night of NOLA was incredible. Just what you all don't need.

the amount of hatred thrown about here is unreal..........how many black hillary voters do you think live in the lower gulf that are not going to be able to evacuate and possibly die?

I hope that no one dies, and wish that my fellow lefties would show at least somewhat more compassion for the citizens in harms way in the Gulf as the righties have shown to ppl in California during the fires and earthquakes.

Finally, a liberal poster who really cares about other people.

and that is a great example of class... thanks for leading by example.

Lots of rain in N.O.; center of storm should cross west of there around Houma; typical street flooding in N.O. area;
lots of ground floor areas in homes and apartments will be tossing their carpets out in the front yard all over the place;
nothing unusual.
