US states say Trump illegally appointed Elon Musk to head DOGE

NEW YORK, Feb 13 (Reuters) - A group of state attorneys general on Thursday sued to halt Elon Musk's efforts to slash federal spending as head of President Donald Trump's new government efficiency agency, escalating the legal fight over the billionaire's influence in the White House.

The lawsuit in Washington, D.C., federal court filed by the attorneys general of New Mexico and 13 other states alleges Trump has given Musk "unchecked legal authority" without authorization from the U.S. Congress.

 
Most American voters are happy with the creation of DOGE, and the appointment of Elon Musk as its director.

There is plenty of historical president for the creation of DOGE.


There is also something very good about having a Temporary Citizen-Politician in charge of it.


Elon will move on to much more interesting projects, once DOGE cleans out the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse.

No, he is in charge of a department of the government which looks for Fraud, Waste, and Abuse. They then reports on it, to the Executive Branch, which then takes action, if they deem it a valid case of Fraud, Waste, and/or Abuse, to correct the spending, and possibly the people who are directing the spending.

When the people on one of his teams are committing fraud, waste, and abuse, he identifies them, and stops it.


Sometimes that means firing them. Sometimes it means demoting or retraining them.


Sometimes, it means inventing a new process or procedure which is more efficient.


Musk is good at doing that. And in doing so, he doesn't just make himself rich, he makes his stock holders and employees richer too.


You seem to have a huge problem with efficient people...
