USA: People who were never slaves now seeking reparations from the offspring of those

Many Indian tribes actually owned black slaves. That being said, this policy is not intended to be rational.

It SOUNDS like it's intentions are rational, but how do you go implementing it? There were Black Slave Masters, do their Descendants pay? And, how do you find them?

You guys are going at it backwards. It is not who was responsible, or how do you determine what percentage. It would be simply rewarding existing black decendents with money from the treasury. My family came to American is about 1900 and grandfather became a miner. I don't think we got much out of slavery. But it would not be on us, just an amount of money for each one.
It is not going to happen. Too expensive and too difficult to determine who would get what. Do half blacks get half? At what percent do you qualify as black? It would be in court for a generation and be fought in Congress for another one.

Todays blacks are not slaves. When you put whole families in jail, like the did with the Japanese, all that is missing is work requirements. 7 Japanese prisoners were killed trying to escape or going too near the edge of the camp.

How many citizens outside those camps died and risked life to free imprisoned Japanese?!! No one to my knowledge, it was settled with reparations. You might call it racist but considering USA was at war with Japan, the USA was looking out for USA by taking the rather extensive precaution.

Some people want Reparations.
Some people call themselves 'African-Americans'. (NOT 'Americans' nor 'Black Americans')
So ... MY Solution: Is to try and make everyone happy.

The people that want Reparations can receive X amount of Dollars, but they can't stay here. They get a Free Ride back to Africa and can live there. They will be way ahead of most others there by having X amount of Dollars.
Those that refer to themselves as 'African-Americans' and prefer to be 'African' rather than 'American', can also benefit by that Free Trip back to the Homeland.
Those that feel they are lucky to be here and refer to themselves as Americans, can PASS on the Reparations and just stay here and do the best they can like the rest of us.

(That's just MY personal opinion on 'Reparations'. Do YOU have an opinion on 'Reparations'?)

and how would you suggest the police describe them in the event of one of them being kidnapped, or one of them going on a murder spree etc. ...

Nordberg: "Yes I have an opinion on reparations."
Jack: Good. Spit it out. Or, ... is it just a Slogan?

Will Union Soldier's descendants be exempt?
How about people that came to the US AFTER 1865, will they be exempt?
How about people like Obama, that are part African but no slave relative?
How about people that have Slave Master and Slave blood, will they be charged ... and then pay themselves?
Will the 'Ben Carsons' and the 'R. Kellys' receive the samr amounts as the 'Little People'?
Any idea how much this is going to cost?
Who will administer the Fund, Nation of Islam or some white people?

It doesn't make sense that anyone who's ancestors died and risked life to free black slaves give anyone black reparations for their ancestors sacrifice to free them because they obviously cared.

Describe who? Black people? 'The Perpetrator was 6 feet tall, skinny, black, wearing blue jeans and a red shirt that said "Fuck David Jeffrey Spetch" on the back'. You know, something like that.

lol I think you get my point on the relevance of black or African American Jack ...

Which makes me curious. What is today's PC term for blacks that are Canadian? African-Canadian? Canadian-African? African-North American? Certainly not African-American. That would dismiss Canadians.

Come to think of it, what is PC for me? Euro-American? European-American? Cracka? White-Privileged? Suppressed White Male minority? Boss Man? Da Man?

It is not just about slavery. After the civil ended, the south enacted Black Codes, which kept blacks in subservient positions and precluded them from good jobs and education. They were held back by separate and unequal schools. They were kept from voting til 1965. The Jim Crow laws kept them in low positions and they had less rights.
The civil rights laws came in 1964.
So the black people have been sat on for long after slavery.

Then let the Demirats pay them, seeing as how it was them that did all you've complained about.

I use African Canadian. I suspect PC does same last I heard.

I have a question for you, Why is it that the citizens of the USA name themselves after an entire continent instead of their own country?

(I use to word that question a little differently at a time not so long ago when it was funny, but in lieu of what has been transpiring as of late it wouldn't be so funny for me to pose it in a way I use too.)

Every living Slave freed by the Union Army during the Civil War,should get reparations!

I think we all get they passed on but the issue is not about those who were alive during getting reparations these days ;) Thanks for sharing your point though ... way back then, if they could have done it they could have also targeted specifically those responsible beginning with the slave traders in Africa let alone those in US responsible for having slaves.
