Value Added Tax???

There are methods of doing that without usurping the Constitution.

Nothing is being usurped. "Promote the general Welfare".

First, when "promoting" something one is "doing" something.
Second, health is considered ones primary welfare.

Regardless, no one came up with any "method" for the last 50 years and some weren't all that concerned about it anyway.

The objectors have no one to blame but themselves. They stalled and obstructed, made up lies, manipulated.....they refused to play ball so the game started without them.

I like Volcker, but this is not a good idea. The VAT tax is highly regressive if done across the board. If it is not done across the board then you simply open up the politicians to receiving more bribes from corporations/groups to get their respective products 'exemption' from the VAT.

There are countless sources of wasteful spending in DC. Defense, education, medicare, medicaid etc... GET THAT SHIT TAKEN CARE OF FIRST. Then freeze spending increases until you have the debt paid back down.
Yea I agree. A VAT is a last resort. I'd start with means testing SS and raising the cap on SS pay roll taxes and put SS back into the black and tell congress to keep their greedy hands off of it (I know...good luck with that).

Second would be to complete health care reform, that would take care of the drain on medicare/medicaid.

Next, end the over extension and ruinous costs of our foreign military involvements then cut the US military in half.

Which article of the Constitution are you referring to? How does that authorize heath insurance, exactly?
