Very interesting

I think I've finally seen the light Desh and I need to change. I want to like facts. What do I have to do to learn the facts and be able to accept them?

Well, in the world according to Desh, you just believe whatever talking points are spouted by Wasserman-Schultz and magically you are a fact-lover.

Yeah, my boss actually sent it to me. Then we sat and talked about it for about 30 minutes. It makes sense for Obama to do it. He has nothing to lose at this point. Especially now that Boehner once again came out with his ignorant 'no higher taxes' bullshit... AGAIN.

Seriously, someone just f'in put Norquist out of his misery. His stupidity has sent the Reps over the cliff. You never take options off the table and stomp your feet like petulant children, if you are the ones chosen to LEAD this country. The feet stomping is for partisan twits like Ditzie and Desh.

If I were Obama I'd have no urgency to stop the tax expiration, then after they expire we can talk about which tax cuts we'll implement. Yeah, for a short time there will be a "tax hike" but we already know that tax cuts can be retroactive. It shouldn't be too difficult to get them to produce something that I (as Obama) would be happy to sign.

Hmmmm I keep trying to picture you as Obama but I keep picturing Flavor Flav instead.

Agreed, that and there's work to be done. The interesting question, is that if some journalist from the Atlantic is aware of this and people like you and I are mulling it over then certainly Repubs must know they're between a rock and a hard spot. The other question is will Obama have the intestinal fortitude to pull something like this off. God knows if he could lead reform of the Senate filibuster rule that would be a huge step in the right direction.

The Republicans will try to push for a continuing resolution that prevents the "fiscal cliff" from happening in January and will have it instead coincide with when the debt ceiling will have to be raised again - thus giving them leverage. Obama should tell Boehner to go screw.

Obama has nothing to lose by doing so. I think the greater pressure will be on Reid. Obama can alleviate that by being the one to lead on the 'waiting' idea. He could come out and put it bluntly... 'Dear Reps, the higher tax brackets for upper income folks are coming back. You can either work with us now to accomplish this or we can wait until the first of the year when that happens anyway AND you will then also be giving up $500B in defense cuts. Your call. Sincerely, the One (who just whupped your asses)'

You bastard, don't leave us in suspense like this... what should he tell Boehner to screw?

Fingers crossed...given his past performance on 'negotiating' it could go either way. If he doesn't stand up and lead we all lose. If he leads on this his popularity and job approval will be off the charts. I'm betting that now that he's in his second term he'll take the initiative....run it like they ran the campaign, do it all.

seriously, please stop derailing threads with your stupidity. You, more than most on this board, refuse to actually listen to facts. You more than most are partisan to the extreme. You, more than most, thinks your party is awesome and the other party to blame for everything. So shut the fuck up about people accepting facts until you are prepared to do the same.
