wages are down

Total income listed on tax returns grew every year after World War II, with a single one-year exception, until 2001, making the five-year period of lower average incomes and four years of lower total incomes a new experience for the majority of Americans born since 1945.

right and all the while the market did well.
I guess the path is clear everyone quit producing anything and just play the market,.

:) yep for a few.
that is the problem it is a pyramid kind of then a few feeding off the many.

But then if everyone just had a college degree ?

No, the market did well from 1982 on.

In 1964 the Dow was at 874 at the end of the year. At the beginning of 1982 it was at 875.

Which is why I have a hard time believing the NY times claim that income rose every year since 1945 (except one). Funny how they didn't seem to provide a link to that data. (either that or I missed it).

36? I am older than both you and Damo. Wow, I am starting to feel decrepit around here.

Wait, let me feel myself.

Hmmm, no...

Im going to be 50 this year so me and usc are the crusty ones arround here.

Doni is the super crusty one.

the chart said average income 55,000 and it said adjusted for inflation it's below the last expansion peak. SF is right Desh and AA doesn't qualify you to comment.

Dems need to get away from this Nanny state needs to provide me with a high income.
The educated people are doing way better than in 2000.:clink:

HA HA!!!

Seriously though... not a whole lot of difference between 36 and 41... pretty much the same generational experiences.

That's true... but I am younger than 41, in case anyone should get the wrong impression. :)

But, yeah, I'm a bit older than you two.
