Walsh affirms Boston’s role as sanctuary city

Grind, I lived in Boston for nine months. I worked in the Pru Tower and I lived at the Harvard Club. If you think women there look good you need to travel

I went out with a woman from Boston (Quincy) and she had a very heavy accent.
The couple of times I visited Boston ( and I loved everything about it) everyone I talked to had an accent -
well not everyone but if they didn't that was noticable.

I loved the theater district & i saw some really good rock and roll there, as she was an usher.
It's a really livable town -i'd take it in a heartbeat over NYC.

Some legal problems

The courts, state and federal, have consistently ruled that an ICE request to local authorities to detain a person does not have the legal status of an arrest warrant and does not constitute probable cause as required for arrest. This is just a fact and one which has its roots in our fundamental concept of habeas corpus. We don't want a country in which the cops can just snatch someone off the street and throw them in jail without a process which protects liberties.

This issue is as much at the heart of the sanctuary cities movement as sympathy for individual immigrants and their families. I think that if more conservatives had the information about this legal problem there might be a more thoughtful approach to how our multi-level law enforcement agencies approach suspect illegal immigrants. We must not let fear and anger trample on our constitutional liberties. There is a real legal issue here: we need to deal with it.

Nah that is so west coast.
It was 72 degrees and sunny in Boston yesterday and the hotties were flaunting it.
It was 33c here yesterday and this is still the cool season!

I think the courts have been pretty clear for over two hundred years that states must follow the orders of the federal courts......

It's a sanctuary city for ugly women, bad accents and bad weather.

No one beats Polk Street during a celebration. Lots of ugly women with awful lisps, bad lingerie and hairy legs.

When someone wants to wrestle, run for your life!

Of course it's freezing. It's summer in San Francisco!

In LA they call SF the City of Sevens and with good reason. With that being said we still beat Boston.

I'd like to get out there and find out! While CA politics is Whack-A- Doodle,
I have great admiration for CA culture. They seem to be cutting edge on many trends.

A friend of mine back in the late 60's opened a health food store, and got rich -he got the idea from visiting CA

California from the '60's to California today is VERY different. The biggest thing being the cost.

Following the orders of federal courts is not in dispute. When ICE gets an arrest warrant for a suspected illegal immigrant, meaning that a federal judge has agreed there is probably cause, local police have held the suspect for the feds. But... no warrant, no probable cause the federal courts have consistently ruled.

Sanctuary cities, so called, have grave concerns about a procedure in which local cops sweep up someone as a favor to federal agencies who "think" he may have violated immigration procedure. One would think conservatives would be anxious to defend habeas corpus and individual liberty against arbitrary government power. Can they really hate Mexicans so much that they would violate our deepest rights in order to conduct una caza de brujas?
