Not true. You can win the war and lose the peace that follows. Those are two different things. One big problem the US has with this is that increasingly the military is seen by top politicians and policy makers as more of a police force than one that is for making war. It doesn't help that the current international rules followed by virtually all of the West and not particularly anywhere else, on how wars can be fought both reinforce this and make fighting a war into an exercise in idiocy rather than the blunt force trauma it should be.

As I've said, The only real war crime is losing. The West has lost sight of that and tried to turn war into just a more intense version of policing.

We're seeing this real time right now. Maduro was snatched and brought to the US to stand trial on various criminal charges. We should have just killed his sorry ass on the spot, along with most of his inner circle of minions and installed who we wanted as the new government in Venezuela. Hand out Hersey bars and cans of Spam to the locals, stock the grocery stores, and open the economy again.
