Way to go Obama!

1) solar is not the only hope

2) There are hundreds of solar companies out there..... he just HAPPENED to pick the one that his billionaire friend had $75 million invested in.... right?

To be clear, I don't doubt Obama's intentions with regards to making solar work were anything but earnest. It just goes to show he is an idiot when it comes to what it takes to make a business viable.

Solar is the ultimate source of all our current energy, why not go direct?

2. Getting tired of hearing your take on Solyndra-gate.

Sorry, they recommended that the loans not be given, however a later Administration overrode them. I must be precise with you, because you will attempt to pick nits.

Actually, the Bush Administration did not recommend that the loans not be given. And yes, you need to be precise. Otherwise you are wrong.

No, I am telling you the truth. It isn't a "couple" dude, it is company after company where he chose to highlight their awesomeness.. If I owned a green company I would be terrified if Obama decided to drop by for a speech. He's the anti-Midas.

Are you actualy a professional politician? 'cause that was a nice dodge.

I asked a simple direct question and received a nonsensical nonsense response.

That's why solar is only a portion of the DOE's loan guarantee program.

yes, I know. My comment was in response to HIS claim that solar was our only hope. Do try to keep up.

Is Solyndra the only solar company to get a loan guarantee from the DOE?

It is the only one we have heard of to get its loan at about 25% of the interest rate being charged to other green companies. It is the only one that we have heard of thus far that was rushed through by the Obama admin. It is not coincidence that it just happened to have a billionaire oil tycoon friend of Obama as a major investor. It just isn't.

I have absolutely no problem with R&D into solar and trying to make it work. As long as the money isn't pissed away as it was in this case. That said, as I stated, you were wrong to state that solar was our only hope.

I am sure you are. I am sure it is quite hard on you to see your master fail so publicly.

That's not really an answer to my question. Your suggestion was that Obama hand-picked this one solar company for DOE loan guarantees to the exclusion of all others. That's not the case.

No, my suggestion is that Obama hand picked this company because his billionaire oil tycoon donor buddy was a primary investor. My point was that there were plenty of other solar companies out there that didn't get funding. There is a reason this one was chosen for fast track and it wasn't because of its financial viability.

Fast track? The process lasted from December 2006 through September 2009. That's not terribly fast.

Solar works now.

The only problem with solar is insufficient utilization.

Actualy, as was pointed out earlier, this company was likely picked due to it's invention.

Silicon costs had become the primary stumbling block to building more affordable PV panels.

Though I am sure Dung will be along to tell us soon that 0.8% of GDP isn't that big of a deal.... it just isn't.... right Dung?

SF - I find it very interesting that you put all of this on Obama, and yet when it comes to the actual crash, it's Reps in Congress, and Dems in Congress, and politicians from the '90's, and pretty much anyone but Bush.

Don't you find that interesting?

You have a very liberal definition of the word "interesting" Onceler.

I find it very interesting that you went back through threads to create a straw man. Try comprehending what you read.

How many times do I have to state it before you stop creating straw men and actually address what I actually have written?

When you are so definitively caught in as blatant a double-standard as I have witnessed, it is rarely enough to just keep parrotting "straw man."

It is not that. It is just you being hypocritical.

I have the answer; it's because Superfreak is a totally partisan Republican.

It's just not very interesting, as in hey, that's interesting! But it's not a big secret. Well, except to him!
