We found our new home in Maine!!!

Oh, and John Hancock owned property in this township before it was named orland in the 1800's, isn't that cool as heck?

And our county is Hancock County because of him btw....

I just know I lived another life in the 1700/1800's cuz I really love all of this stuff and appreciate the wood work and craftmanship of some of these century or two or three year old farm houses.... hahahahaha...I don't believe in reincarnation but so help me goodness, I think I was a carpenter in another day and age....! I just KNOW IT! lol :D

That is so damned cool mama. Gorgeous. Congratulations. Maybe someday, I'll be your neighbor. Beautiful. Have your craftman build a guest house, I'll move in tomorrow.

hey mbl, you got it! I already told matt that we have to have the barn shaped garage built first with the bonus room on top so you can rent the space from us! And he agreed!

that's not too long away kiddo....I'll keep you posted!

It is so cute mbl.....!

Wow... Matt, looks like you have your place in Maine!

If I could find a tech job out there I might just go too...

It is a pretty great place to live.... but don't tell too many people... one of the charms of Maine is the "undiscovered" nature of it.

Doesn't look like you'll be hooked up to city water or sewage.

Make sure the inspectors check out the well and septic.

we had arsenic in the well water....a $1.5 k system has to be added...

the level was 0.03, the law as of last january is 0.01, the law before this was 0.05....so if we bought the house last year it would have passed the inspection on the water....

----------------------------------------------------------

we have been living in hell for the past few weeks, had to put our furniture in storage and living in a furnished cabin on a lake and moutain that we can't get out of when it snows.... because our lawyer found out that the tittle on this house was not free and clear, some long lost relative never signed off on the deed to the guy that owns it now.... Friday, this was settled and the woman was found and released it....

so we are closing on this cottage cape on tuesday and we get our furniture on wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah!!!!! FINALLY.....

I love this house...I wish I could post pictures so you could see the meadow and mountain views in the distance out the front of the house...!!!! :(

it is the cutest little thing that ever existed! :)

Finally... We added a filter system to our well, even though ours passed inspection. There was Iron Sulphate in the water that made it smell bad even though it was still okay to drink. Now we have some of the most pristine water around.

Welcome to the world of living in the boondocks! Get you some satellite if DSL isn't available because Cable is right out!

Care...welcome to Maine.... just realize that, as friendly as your neighbors might be, you will always be "from away".

I remember shortly after I arrived here, I asked a local native how long it took for out-of-staters who moved to Maine to be considered "mainers".... he said, "about as long as it takes a brick to become a loaf of bread."

That's okay. Jersey will always claim her anyway!

Esp if she talks with a joisy accent ;)
Like me being a hillbilly. The bad thing is that I am sometimes mistaken for a Texican because of my accent.
