There is no season on feral pigs so was your project on state lands. Our farm is on Sabine river bottom land and pigs run up and down the river area. We see herds of over 100 pigs sometimes. So a few times a year we set up and kill as many as possible as fast as possible. Pigs are very smart and they will avoid the area for a while. My brothers and I commercially raise melons and the amount of damage pigs can do is tremendous.

I've seen YouTubes of folks who set up pens with bait in the middle. The heard of feral pigs get caught in the pen and the trappers stand up in their pickup beds and kill them all (they didn't show the kill part on YouTube).

I knew an old guy in Graham Texas that would set up live catch traps on ranches and charge for every pig he removed. Then he had them slaughtered and sold the meat to fancy restaurants as Russian Boar. Technically most feral pigs have Russian boar genes in them. He also sold the meanest looking boars to high French hunting ranches. Hunters love shooting and stuffing them if they have good tusks. Look for You Tube videos of them using night scopes to kill pigs. That is pretty much what we do.

We give the smaller ones to poor people or friends and we hang some of the other ones on our fence along the river. It warns the pigs to stay away. I have a couple small ones butchered and ground into hamburger and made into sausage and give them to a couple of old folks that I know are very tight financially . One little old lady lives across the road from my watermelon field. If it is like the ones my wife has toured with the Federal judge she worked for it's a depressing un-air- conditioned prison in the Texas heat. They tell you when to get up when to go to bed serve terrible greasy substandard food and make you work. Don't want to waste good meat.

My wife's worked for a federal judge for over 30 years. Because he felt obligated to know where he was sentencing people too he would tour a federal prison every year. I know she went to the one in Ft. Worth and the one in Kaufman and she hated them. She griped about it before and afterwards. Them minimum security prisons have no doors on the cells and there is no privacy. The food was terrible and my wife basically did not eat it. I know the one in Kaufman made furniture and made the inmates work in the small factory where the made it. It had no AC but had a lot of fans. The had chain link fences topped with barbed wire but no prison walls. I suspect Bryan is similar. The Club Med thing is pure Hollywood.
