We must regulate this brutally painful killer.

FIRE!

Last night 9 people in Kentucky died in a house fire. Last week an 8 year boy died in a fire trying to rescue his grandfather. According to the CDC 1 person dies from a fire ever 169 minutes in America. It is the 3rd leading cause of fatal home injury. The cost of burn injuries is 7.5 billion dollars every year.

Now I know what you fire nuts are going to say. We have a right to cook our food. Did you know that cooking is the leading cause of residential fires? Your going to say "we have a right to keep warm!" But at what expense? At the expense of children, that's what. I am suggesting a background check on people attempting to buy a house with a fireplace or wood burning stove. Waiting periods on the purchase of barbecue grills, space heaters, kerosene lanterns, anything that can cause a fire. This brutal killer must be stopped and all efforts must be brought to bear. ONLY by serious government intrusion will we ever put an end to death and injury caused by fire.

And here we find Conservatives demonstrating what they consider "reasonable dialogue" regarding lunatics with guns and what to do about stopping them.

To the gentleman with ZERO sense of humor this thread was about FIRE. I'm sorry if Beavis & Butthead offend you. And our most recent conversation on guns ended with you lying about what I said and you not responding to what Soc wrote. So please taking your whining elsewhere sir.

Fire has many uses such as cooking food, burning leaves, burning trash, heating your home (etc.) One of it's possible dangers is that in the wrong hands it can be harmful and possibly fatal.

Guns were made to kill, it's their sole purpose. Even shooting for sport is practice for a kill later..

Now a civilized nation should have the right to bear arms. The problem is our civilization is starting to get stupid enough to compare firearms with fire, hammers and cars. Not very civilized at all. I believe in the right to bear arms (with regulation) but I question how serious gun owners are taking the dangers. When you start comparing guns to lighters, hammers and cars you should know you are losing the argument. It's complete strawman and makes gun owners look uneducated about guns.

Now now now...

This obvious attempt at rational dialogue is just going to get you attacked for your "incredible stupidity".

Who cares that fire has many other purposes...as long as gun nuts can continue to demonize those who just want a dialogue, who cares what the facts are?

Its as if they think guns are needed like home heating and cooking are needed.

what the HELL are they doing with those guns that makes them think they that needed?

Oh wait maybe I don't want that image in my head

We do, at least we regulate the things that cause fire, things that burn, and things that prevent fire. Try to build a house using highly flammable material, you wont be allowed. Try to sell gasoline in anything but a federally approved container.

We make reasonable regulations regarding the dangers of fire.

You're wasting your time Jarod.

There is no reasonable dialogue to be had with gun nuts.

They will always have some nonsense like this snarky "fire is dangerous, it should be regulated" hokum.

In a world with central heating, place heaters, electric stoves, microwaves, lightbulbs, etc., you do not need fire.
