We have history to thank for that. If we have Trump trying to cancel an election, then we have the first steps. He's tried to delegitimize elections, which shows what he might do if he could.

You need to listen to your #FatFuehrer. He has made multiple comments about locking up journalists, Democrats, and others who dare criticize him. He used the FCC to try to get a comedy talk show host fired. He made a heroic martyr out of a alt-RW hatemonger, going so far as to give him a posthumous medal. He is trying to corrupt our universities by withholding appropriated funds unless they bend their knee to him. He has made comments about not holding next year's elections because of "war." He has sent the U.S. military into American cities supposedly to stop crime -- but only in "blue" cities. Have you forgotten about "Alligator Alcatraz" already?

Hitler was 44 when he became Chancellor of Germany and pushing 50 when he invaded Czechoslovakia and Poland. He was dead by his own hand 10 days after his 56th birthday.

Trump is pushing 80 and in poor health. I doubt he has 3 active years remaining much less 12. I'll pray he has a debilitating stroke that makes him mute and paralyzed so he can watch Melania parade her latest boytoy in front of him for a few years. LOL

I'm not saying you aren't allowed to have concern but speculation isn’t the same as reality. Politicians on both sides have questioned or spun election results when it suits them. That doesn’t make them dictators. In Nazi Germany, elections were canceled and opposition parties banned. Here, elections still happen and power still changes hands.

It’s fine to worry about abuse of power, but calling everything “Nazi” just turns history into something people use for attention.

While Trump clearly seeks to emulate his hero Uncle Adolf along with modern dictators like Putin, Kim and XI, the problem for the Democrats, especially those on the far left, is they've overused the Nazi label so much it's now watered down.

The same has happened with the accusation of racism. Yes, it's true, but when everything someone does is labeled racist, then when they actually do something racist, it doesn't stick because it's been watered down so much.

The same is happening with Trump's overuse of "Leftists", socialists, Marxists, etc. It's not at the level of LWers slinging out "racist" and "Nazi", but it's getting there.

When a JPP MAGA moron label me a "Lefty" simply for being left of Alt-Right, it waters down the insult since it's both untrue and proves the person is a fucking moron.

You *are* naive. No other modern politician has lied consistently for at least five years now that the election he lost was "stolen." No modern president has ever sicced a violent mob on the U.S. Capitol because of that lost election. Playing the "yeah but the Dems" game isn't working anymore. Open your eyes and quit making excuses for this corrupt and proto-fascist administration.

I’m not stopping anyone from criticizing Trump or his policies. That doesn’t make America 1930s Germany.

Elections still happen, people still protest and Trump is ripped on national TV on a nightly basis. That’s not authoritarianism or Nazism. It’s democracy with a lot of noise.

I’m awake. In fact I do my best to stay out of echo chambers because that’s where this dehumanizing and toxic rhetoric flourishes.

With respect, you’re making it personal. I haven’t excused anything Trump’s done. What I’m saying is comparing America today to Nazi Germany is beyond a stretch.

Elections still happen, people still vote, power changes hands and we aren’t mass murdering our own citizens. That’s not facism or nazism.
