We teach students how to understand the U.S., not to love it — or hate it

Is the United States the world’s greatest country? When asked that question eight years ago, 70 percent of American citizens surveyed said yes.

Now, a recent study by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs shows that only 54 percent answer affirmatively. Democrats are likelier to see their country as normal and Republicans are likelier to see it as uniquely great, but the decline is bipartisan. It’s also age-based: A similar Pew study found that respondents under 30 were markedly less enamored of their country than those over 50. Across the board, U.S. exceptionalism is faltering.

the concept of patriotism is alien to them
the concept of American Exceptionalism is anathema to them
tear it all down = our very own Cultural Revolution

And that spells success for progressive ‘education’ lol.

Why anyone would celebrate a decline in the percentage of people who think this is a great country is beyond me. Probably one of the reasons I’m not a progressive.

But like so many progressive notions it conflicts with reality. Why do so many people try to get into this country if it’s just a normal run of the mill country? Why don’t they stay in their own run of the mill countries?

I can get on board with realism because I’m a realist. Realism says this country—like virtually all the other run of the mill countries, has things in its past it’s not particularly proud of. In fact, this country IS run of the mill in that particular sense.

What separates us is that we *successfully* fought a civil war that put an end to our historical sin; then we reunited to become the greatest nation on earth by practically every metric. Innovation, wealth, opportunity, civil liberties, music, entertainment, sports, we were instrumental in ending the two great wars, we spread our wealth globally *to a fault* Etc etc.

If we aren’t the most exceptional nation on earth—who is?

Hell, a good number of these people driving the Revolution dont even think that America should exist anymore, for instance most of the point of open borders is to eliminate America.

China is all too happy to vacuum up what ever remains after the Bus Drivers to UTOPIA get done wrecking the place.

I dont know if it's from you, or bubbling up from me, but I have lost most of my optimism for the future.
we no longer look to improve, Progs look to make equal

Its later than almost anyone knew, because the revolution has been very long and well planned at the "elite" schools where the best brains were, and they lie constantly because they suck too much to believe in consent, only power.

The current reality really sucks, the fact that this revolution is happening just as the Chinese are coming for us was never intended but then again almost no American has ever understood the Chinese...we are not good at that sort of thing....these days we barely try.

Yes, we look to be roadkill for the Empire.....it is just too late.

Progressives want a "free for all" country and force Conservatives to pay for it.

Think back to all that you have seen in the last few years, then think on this statement:

"A great many on the Regressive Left want America hurt and greatly shrunk in power , if not eliminated entirely".

Not sure if you are lamenting this or celebrating it. My money is on celebration. If it's any consolation, I don't think 2021 America is gonna be that exceptional either, so party on man. In the immortal words of your vegetable-elect, "America's darkest days lie ahead". Bet you can't wait until he's the rhubarb-in-chief and you can get started making America mediocre again.:hedb::party:

Here is the problem with this thread....History is now rarely taught in the schools...what is called History now is Victim Culture Cult indoctrination.

Civics has not been generally taught since I was a little boy.

You are not sure about a lot of things. That is obvious.
