I'm not so sure. He's always believed himself to be the smartest person in the room and, in a crunch, will do some pretty stupid things out of emotion, not logic.
His statements on the issue during press conferences is an example. He regularly goes off script. His claim for breaking with Epstein due to Jeffrey poaching employees from him is an example. Not because he knew Epstein was guilty of statutory rape, but because Epstein's "dark side" was stealing Big Daddy's cleaning staff.

I think she will get a pardon at the very end of this Trump term, if she keeps her mouth shut about Trump but implicates the people Trump wants her to implicate. She will be in until 2028.
And that is because the 'dangling pardon' has more value to Trump than the delivered pardon does.
Two things happen once Trump pardons her. First is he loses a ton of leverage over her. Second is Congress (if either House is controlled by Dems) can subpoena her to testify on this issue and she would not be able to take the 5th due to the pardon.
And no defense counsel would do anything but tell their client to be fully honest, no matter who it implicates, because they have the pardon and lying would be the only way she might end up in jail again. So telling the truth, regardless of how ugly it is, is the only guaranteed way to stay out of jail and Maxwell is not going to cover for others and risk going to jail for them when she is at no risk.

You can be certain that Trump criminal defense lawyer and DoJ number two, Todd Blanche, gave Maxwell the same type of 'perfect phone call' deal Trump was offering Zelensky, to keep the Ukraine aide flowing and to maintain the US support against Russia in that war.
Blanche would have let her know, as Trump has said, that he has not taken a pardon for her off the table and if can 'search her memory and FIND any memories that would be relevant to the prosecution' of any of a number of people Blanche would have named, then the pardon would likely come her way.
Blanche, like Trump prior would say 'i never told her to implicate anyone and just told her if she had memories of their implication that would be what would get her a pardon... thus a perfect discussion'.
The quid pro quo would be clear to Maxwell and her lawyer and the only issue is does she fabricate what she knows Trump wants to hear her say or refuse like Zelensky did, even if at great cost.

The wire taps are what the FBI normally does. We tap Russian intelligence as much as we can. In this case, we found the Russians were talking to Trump's people. That is how Trump's connections were found out. They did not tap Trump.
And now we know what QPee! would do if here were Trump. That's all we know though, all of this is his imagination.

What is your guess as to why?
I just don't know. Though I am certain, if there is something nefarious, that we will know over time. It's difficult to have that many folks in the know and not have one "leak" the right information to the right people.
I just cant figure why he is willing to suffer the current political hit unless he or some powerful people that he needs to protect are not implicated.
Possibly a family member or a good friend.

His only family members would be his two sons and they were too young. Big Daddy's only friend appears to be Jeffrey, the rest are business acquaintances or flunkies/useful idiots.
Or himself. They were very close, he and Epstein.

WRONG.
What we know for CERTAIN, is that Trump has done this type of quid pro quo prior when he felt someone (Zelensky) was reliant on him for something and he let Zelensky know what he wanted in return, regardless of it being true or not.
That matters, when it comes to speaking to how a person engages when they have leverage (or cards) and you can simply believe otherwise but you are not doing so based on any data or facts.
What we also know is Trump sent in his personal lawyer, who is not the DAG, who is a person who in the history of the DoJ would NEVER do this interview and certainly not alone. It is always done by someone in the office who was part of the prosecution accompanied by someone in law enforcement (witness) because the prosecutors are best to determine if the person is lying or not based on what they learned in the investigation.
If you believe for one minute that if Maxwell said 'yes i have info but it implicates Trump' and you think Blanche would use that, even if it meant Trump might get charged you are simply a fool Damo.
The only reasons to send only Blanche in alone is so he can find out what Maxwell might say in the future, to media or Congress or other and how that might implicate Trump and to also see if she can implement others, and to let her know that her path to a pardon means playing ball.
Why Damo, do you think Trump keeps the door to a pardon open for one of the most heinous pedophiles in American history? Give us your reasons for why anyone might do that?

Trump merely assumed, as he always does that if he forgot out post election and moved on, all his magats would do the same.

The people who would be implicated are amongst the most rich and influential in politics and business and you can bet they have been massive donors to try and ensure this does not get out.
Trump used to do the same in NYS with regards to all his business issues that he knew might trigger investigations and it worked for him for decades. You donate to the Mayor, and other politically elected official who might gain power and have discretion as to where to look.
Also what would come out, other than what Epstein or Maxwell could testify directly would largely just be innuendo and accusations such as 'flying on the plane'. 'going to the island', 'going to events' or just 'associating with Epstein', but nothing conclusive and Trump is almost certainly the one who associated the most and thus when it comes to people (like the Magats) who like to use association as proof, they do not want that out.

He does not plan to run again but he also does not plan to leave office.
And donors and the elite acquiescing and ducking for cover and silencing their newspapers and new program shows is key to the next stage of Trumps plan.
