What do you love best about Canada?

Doesn't make him any less stupid .. in fact, that only makes it worse.

No it doesn't. There was an entire series, done by the same people about each province in Canada. Most Canadians thought they were funny and the adds were played on most major radio stations, nation wide. I thought you knew all about Canadian culture and stuff?

Since this is wierd day .. this may be wierd to you, but I took offense to your denigration of Canada .. your country.

I did not denigrate MY country in anyway, shape or form. In fact, I would wager that most Canadians consider the "I am Canadian" series to be part of our CULTURE. :D

I'm curious, I wonder if Niagra/Kitchener was brought into the amalgomation,. now known as the Greater Toronto Area? Toronto sucks

'I hate the Sky dome and the CN Tower too
I hate Nathan Phillips Square and the Ontario Zoo
The rents too high, the airs unclean
The beaches are dirty and the people are mean
And the women are big and the men are dumb
And the children are loopy 'cause they live in a slum
The water is polluted and the mayor's a dork
They dress real bad and they think they're New York
In Toronto, Ontario'

Still, the food in nothing special. The wax museum rocks, though!

TO has the Hockey Hall of Fame and The Star and I'm with BAC on Front Street, I love the Flatiron Building and right near it my favourite TO pub The Jersey Giant and St Lawrence Market and the Mill St Brewery. Yeah, too many homeless people on the streets, especially in NP Square.

The Mayor's a dork for sure, single issue politician got lucky.

But it's nice to visit. I like the different neighbourhoods, the Greek food up on the Danforth, Cabbagetown, the Eaton Centre (I know, a paen to consumerism but it's bloody huge!) and the good music stores and Kensigton Market district, got food from anywhere you care to name, Chinatown where you can get great food and it's bustling like mad with all the locals. And - you won't believe it - the much-maligned TTC. You think the TTC is bad, try the public transport in my little city, generally hopeless.

That's all well and good, food you can get anywhere. I see maple beans/bacon, poutine and beaver tails are not on your list. You have not experienced real culture. IMHO, you have no credibility when it comes to Canadian cusine. :D

Ah poutine! "Keeping cardiologists in Cadillacs since Cartier!" That's not a motto but it damn well should be! :clink:

You reminded me of something else I like about Toronto .. it's an international city.

I have the first one I think it was, the one with "boot" in it, cracked me up.

One thing I noticed, the way people from the different provinces make fun of each other - in a good-humoured way (but leave the Newfies alone, they're okay).

A co-worker had it for lunch yesterday, I've been dreaming aboot it ever since!

Oh, and BAC, I had real tortier for supper Sunday night. Not as good as a hot hamburg, but close. :D

Ever had a hot hamburg, Diuretic? Has to be toasted!

I used to spend a lot of time in TO with my ex. His aunt and uncle lived in York Mills, a suburb not far from downtown. We would catch a train a few blocks from their home and be on Young st in minutes. Shop then bar hop all night. Lots of fun.

I know it's expensive, really expensive and I know I couldn't stand a whole winter there (jeez I spent Jan/Feb in TO once and when I got back home to Aus I had to lay out in 43c heat in my back yard to thaw out ) and I know it's filthy, stinking hot in summer but I like visiting TO. I hope to get to Montreal next visit, that's one city I really want to see.

Well, if you make to Montreal, you might as well come to Ottawa for a quick pint. 2 hours is nothing after the plane ride!

Toronto is good if your rich....

I hate driving in Toronto actually the traffic sucks.... so I dont go home very often. I'll be back tho in mid Dec for the Raptors-Rockets game at the ACC

17 hours Sydney to Vancouver, 4 to Pearson. If I get organised sufficiently to get to Montreal and I'm not flying (I was thinking about driving up in a rental car or taking the train perhaps) then I would really like to check out Ottawa. I'll keep in touch via the forum (internet cafes are good) and a pint would be very welcome :clink:

I've never driven in TO, I always take rental cars wherever I am and driving on the wrong side of the road in a vehicle with steering wheel on the passenger side doesn't worry me but in TO I'm happier with the Rocket.

As for being rich and being in TO, for sure - but Conrad Black would be disagreeing with you right now  :clink:
