What happened in Oregon will happen nationally after 2020

No violence?

They made violent threats to the governor and law enforcement.

They showed up armed to surround the state house.

You have a weird bar for what counts as "violence"...a bar that you seem to move quite frequently.

A threat is not violence.
""The peaceful rallies on the steps this weekend were done by Oregonians who will be directly impacted by the gas and emissions tax or House Bill 2020," Baertschiger said. "Democrats were reactionary to rumors and lacked the courage to face these Oregonians by closing the Capitol building on Saturday."

The Oregon GOP Twitter account continued to disparage safety concerns on Sunday. It mocked the idea of a militia threat, broadcasting a photograph of a loggers' protest from earlier in the week with the satirical caption: "Heavily armed militia lays siege to Oregon's Capitol as Senate Democrats cower in fear."

The tweet was widely misinterpreted and spread nationally, including by Democratic Party luminaries Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. Most of the people responding to the tweet appeared to believe it was deriding peaceful protest or endorsing a violent shutdown of the statehouse.

"A spokesperson for the state Senate president told The Associated Press on Friday that the "Oregon State Police has recommended that the Capitol be closed tomorrow due to a possible militia threat."

On Saturday, right-wing militias could be seen protesting outside the statehouse as lawmakers were supposed to be inside voting on the climate change legislation, according to the news outlet.

What was the "threat"? Apparently peaceful protests by militia members constituted a threat. Typical exaggerated inaccurate crap from LV426

It is a FACT that Conservatives allied with neo-Nazi, inbred militias and made credible threats against the governor, law enforcement, and democrats.

What do you have to say about that?

What were the "credible threats."

Gerrymandering and voter suppression are the only ways that the GOP is winning, yes.

That begins ending after next year's elections.

Those lame excuses for losing were proven false in 2018. So far nobody has been able to identify any "suppressed" votes.

And now comes the part where the Conservative walks back the stupid thing he said before.

You said, literally, that elections are irrelevant.

I said that those who have stopped voting consider them irrelevant. get it all right or dont fucking say it at all, domer.

After Conservatives are thoroughly defeated in 2020, just like they were in 2018, they will do things like enlist violent, right-wing fascist militias as their brownshirts, and use the threat of violence and intimidation on lawmakers who were elected by the voters against the will of these wackos.

Instead of backing down, I think these governors and mayors and politicians should call their bluff and BLAST THEIR TRAITOROUS ASSES TO KINGDOM COME.

With the same intensity they shoot black people, the police should shoot these wingnuts dead.

They are terrorists, after all.

I can picture old general cornwallis saying the same bullshit on the eve of the battle of Yorktown in 1781. How did that turn out for him?

No one is concerned about peaceable protests and rallies.

When a state senator makes a terrorist threat against LEO, one of their smallest should go up to said senator and slap him silly and say, "Who do you think you are, podjo?'

Oregon's LEO looks to have refused to be complicit in Gov. Kate Brown's authoritarian crackdown on political dissent. Brown and her states legislature's majority are either incredibly cowardly, or fully aware that police don't support the authoritarian regime. Either Brown and her colleagues aren't confident police will protect them from the voters they've angered, or they're running away from the fight they started, as bullies typically do when they're forcefully confronted.

I thought as much. The AP is certainly happy to spread propaganda. I thought of traveling to Salem myself (it's in my area) to see what it was really all about.

Papers make shit up like this because it sells papers. It's like professional gossip, and often just as useless. Then some moron like LV426 gets ahold of it and exaggerates even more.

This is a codeword complaint for those States that have implemented voter ID. The votes suppressed are those that can't get ID, such as illegal immigrants, dead people, etc. The Democrats are finding it harder to create fake votes.

What were the "credible threats."

So...now comes the part of the debate where you lazily demand accommodation because you cannot fathom the possibility that you aren't as informed on this subject as others.

Republicans in Oregon appeared to think the militia and threats to Democratic lawmakers were funny when they took to Twitter to satirize the situation. “Heavily armed militia lays siege to Oregon’s Capitol as Senate Democrats cower in fear,” the Oregon GOP tweeted. As the Oregonian pointed out, the joke seemed to be insinuating that Democrats were scared of peacefully protesting Oregonians, but the state police had deemed the threats against Democrats credible.

So one of the Nazis says his Nazi protest was peaceful and you're just like "seems peaceful to me!"

Right, this is the "I was just joking" defense...the same one you employed before for being shitty, and now are accepting in this instance.

"A spokesperson for the state Senate president told The Associated Press on Friday that the "Oregon State Police has recommended that the Capitol be closed tomorrow due to a possible militia threat."

So...what did Flash do here?

First, Flash denied that threats are violence, and that there's such a thing as a peaceful threat.

Then, Flash tried to argue that the threats were just made in jest ("I was just joking" post-hoc defense). So I guess that means the threat wasn't peaceful.

So Flash was trying to argue that the threats weren't credible and therefore, were peaceful threats. Yes, that is Flash's argument now...the Nazis made peaceful threats that Flash then goes on to quote the article as saying were credible enough that the "Oregon State Police has recommended that the Capitol be closed tomorrow due to a possible militia threat."

So Flash, your argument here just contradicted itself.

In trying to downplay the significance and severity of the threat Conservatives made, you ended up proving the threat was credible when you quoted the article saying just that.

So your argument now is that Nazis were peacefully threatening Democrats, but it's OK because they were just joking, even though police found the threat credible.
