What if a republican made this remark?

no. this is correct:

If a democrat said it, he'd be talking about how the solution is to throw more taxpayer money at the issue, in an ineffective manner.

If a republican said it, he'd be saying how the underlying problem is breakdown of the african american family and the lack of a father figure in the lives of black youngsters.

You're on the right and that's just what you've been fed, but as usual, there is an awful lot you don't know. The reason you don't know is simple .. the puppetmasters didn't feed it to you.

In spite of the contrived "war on drugs", which is nothing more than a war on African-American men, a truth that is known, documeneted, and proven, there are still more black men in college than in prison, and in spite of the contrived war on young black men, there are 4 times as many young brothers in college 18-15 than in prison. They fight against an onslaught of injustice.

The good news of Edwards statement is that it forces renewed focus on America, the greatest prison nation on earth. We even have prisons and secret prisons in other countries.

America has 5% of the world's population and 25% of all the world's prisoners. We leave China, Iran, Egypt, North Korea, and Russia FAR in the dust .. not just by prison population, but also per capita.

Black America is under attack by the injustice of the criminal system which has been ignored the rest of America. Edwards statement, the Jena Six case which has drawn international focus, articles studies, and documentaries are now starting to force America in front of the mirror, and not just about the ignorance of Bush.

WTF are you ranting about, shitferbrains? You just admitted what I said is the standard republican line. Notice, I didn't say, "blacks are evil"; ergo, you just admitted watermark's analysis is full of crap.

He did not say thats what should happen... he just pointed out it is happening!

Thanks for the standard mainstream Republican response there.

I forget which page in the handbook that is though....

that's a great point because all evidence shows kids, especially males, don't need a father figure in their life. The importance of family and a family that stays together is a bunch of right-wing religious crap.

LOL. Have you been infected with Rosy O'Donnell syndrome?

A little winky goes a long way...

sorry, I never think about the wink. The importance of family and of a father specificially is a Republican talking point? Damn citizen is ignorant.

Family values, we value our families in Iraq. So much so that we want to bring them home.

Maybe if I started doing drugs I could follow your posts. I thought you were lying about A.D.D. before but maybe you weren't because you cannot stay on topic for more than one post. Unreal.

I did not lie about ADD.

If I was not mensa grade intelligence, I would have been dumb enough from ADD to have voted for Bush....

Isn't this a pretty stupid thread in retrospect, considering that the media went to town on this remark?

Not really. I asked about this board. The posters here are fond of calling white males racists. It was interesting to see them ignore all the racist implications inherent in the quote. There are far more african americans working and contributing to society than there are in prison. I thought it was an awful thing to say.

I agree that it was an incorrect thing to say statistically, however, it draws attention to the reality that if the injustice of the Criminal Injustice System and the so-called war on drugs aren't addressed, what he said could be a possibility.

Ted Koppel has done a documentary of the exploding prison statistics and America as the greatest prison nation the world has ever seen. which comes on the heels of Jena Six.

I'm glad this issue is getting some light.
